Happy Saturday! It’s not often that I share a post on Saturday. But I was excited to share a project my daughter and I did while visiting her. After browsing through thrift store after thrift store, she finally found what she wanted. To Use Thrifted Readers Digest Books To Add Color to Any Room.
It wasn’t the stories she was interested in, it was the colors on the binding and covers. Each book has various colors on the binding and some even have a print on the cover. You can choose from deep purple to lime green, to pink. She was looking for blues, greens and a hint of coral or red.
We hit the jack pot of Readers Digest books at a local thrift store. I think we found 24 books that we could have used.
After bargaining with the store worker, she ended up buying 10 at a $1 a piece. Cool, huh? (Yes, I forgot to get ALL 10 in one picture. Ooops)
Once we got home, she began to “play” with the books. Looking at what colors on the binding and would look best in each room.
She wan’t too worried about the actual stories in the books. She was looking to add color and continuity for each space.
After purchasing the plants and pots at IKEA, the books were next on her living room shelves. We would set things up, stand back and look at our work.
After a few days of “playing” she got the look she had been after. I really like how the books look a part of the room. Just as she had planned.
We tried a few times to set the large candlesticks on the fireplace mantel. It never looked right. We decided they would look great as book ends. Probably my favorite look from all the books we used.
Did you ever use thrifted Readers Digest Books to add color to any room???
I hadn’t either. I had given all of our Readers Digest books to charity. I will now look at Readers Digest books differently.
I would say that was a $10 well-spent, wouldn’t you?
It’s nice to be home and have a regular time with my blog again. Although, spending time with family trumps that anyday.
I am happy you came by today to see how to Use Thrifted Readers Digest Books to Add Color to Any Room.
Make it a Super Saturday!
