Wow! Do I have a fun post planned for you today! It is Field Trip Friday with Salvage Sister. If you like to salvage anything, you will be inspired by Deborah. She can see beyond what she has. She can make almost anything out of nothing. You will love her taste, style and ideas.
Welcome to Field Trip Friday with Salvage Sister…
First, I would like to thank Meegan for having me. I first met Meegan at a blogging conference, SNAP, and I couldn’t have been happier with such a wonderful roommate! She is a sweetheart!
Hi, I am Deborah from Salvage Sister & Mister. I blog with my husband The Mister. We have been married for over 20 years and have two boys, 18 and 14. We live in the lovely state of Oregon. Before that we were in Arizona for 15 years. We moved here almost 2 years ago and purchased a home that needs a bunch of work…
don’t all homes though?
Our blog mission, if you will, is to encourage people to love what they have and where they are at. We focus a lot on repurpose, upcycle, and reusing, but the basic principle is ~
Make the most with what you have.
You can read more of our story HERE.
The topics we focus on are:
We also changed up the hardware just using twine instead of replacing them.
Turning plain food jars into canisters for your pantry.
I currently work as a head cook at a school, have been a cooking instructor, and come from a long line of foodies. The Mister is a converted foodie, through marriage. We talk about how to make the most with what you got when it comes to food waste. We also, don’t have a lot of time so we also focus on simplicity.
Breakfast Meal Planning/Granola Roll-Up’s
Other topics include travel, adoption, blogging, celebrations, and family. All thrown in with a bit of lighthearted humor cause life is too short, right? (Maybe even some urban slang for our teens amusement.)
We hope that you will not only be inspired to make the most with what you have, but that we will learn from you as well.
You can also find us over on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Hometalk.
Thanks again Meegan for giving us this opportunity to share a little bit of Salvage Sister & Mister with your readers!
Okay, was I right??? Did you L O V E Deborah’s ideas, like I thought you would??? I hope you will follow her on all Social Media and enjoy getting to know her as much as I have.
Thanks for joining me today for Field Trip Friday with Salvage Sister.
Make it a Field Trip Friday…

You have probably heard me mention my trip to SNAP. It is a HUGE blog conference held every Spring. This past Spring, I WON a ticket to SNAP! I know! It was really a blessing to attend. One of the cool and exciting things about SNAP besides the incredible classes, sponsors, hosts, parties, and roommates is the fact that you also can go on a Thrift Store Field Trip at SNAP.
And was it ever amazing. From meeting new friends, seeing incredible pieces of vintage items, we were guided on the trip by Mandi from Vintage Revivals and Brooke from All Things Thrifty. They are like celebs in the DIY, crafting, thrifting blog world.
Our first stop was with George. He owned ACRES of salvaged, used, worn antiques. I wasn’t in his garage very long before I spotted this:
Oh my goodness…
If you know me at all, you know I LOVE the beach. I love the sand in my toes, the ocean breeze, the smells, the sounds and walking on the pier. On occasion, I have been know to even ride the waves, body surfing. It is such a thrill to be in the water. The ocean is therapeutic for me.
Our porch is tiny so I had to be careful NOT to make it TOO full.
I shopped my house for a few things and love the results…
