The temperature is warming up and I am spending most of my days poolside. You know how I love to be outside and feel the sun rays on my face. It is really nice to be in our new home. Things are coming together and I am enjoying the decorating process. I am also enjoying the fact that we have a REAL porch. We did have a tiny balcony before. I tried to turn it into an inviting space. But, my vision never really came to fruition. I had visions of what I wanted here even before we moved in. Let me share some of my DIY Apartment Summer Porch Ideas for our new home.
These DIY Apartment Summer Porch Ideas can be used on tiny porches and large decks alike.
I like this time of month because I get to be a part of the At Home DIY Challenges. We have a theme every 15th of the month and share our best DIY projects related to the theme. This month is: “Make it Pretty Outdoor Challenge”
That is EXACTLY why I am tidying up our back porch and showing you my DIY projects for this space…
This is what I started out with…
It’s a great space, but definitely needed some help. That’s where the DIY Apartment Summer Porch Ideas come into play…
With a couple of DIY projects and creativity, I have an outdoor space to enjoy anytime of year.
Let me show you what I did first…
I used one of my favorite thrifted finds. The red chair that I found for just a few dollars. I love this chippy goodness and the shape. It keeps breaking, but I keep gluing and screwing it back together.
I hope to start a container garden on the back porch, sometime soon. (I haven’t ever tried it before, so I am excited about it.)
With craft paint, I painted clothes pins and have fun in the fact that my neighbors can see this on my storage room door.
Now, just to shop the thrift stores for large garden pots to begin planting my container garden. Yay!
The next one of my DIY Apartment Summer Porch Ideas is to create a Boho Style rug by using stencils.
With Indoor/Outdoor Satin paint, a stencil, sponge and a sturdy rug, I was set.
When you are making your own stenciled Boho style rug, be sure to purchase a rug that has rubber or foam underneath. This will keep it from staying wet after the rain. It will dry faster and grip to the cement better, as well.
I bought an inexpensive rug (about $25-30) with a grid print. This made it easy for me to create my own style pattern using my stencil.
The picture above can be printed for your convenience, by right clicking and then pressing print. Easy peasy!
I was really surprised at how quickly it went. I like the shading of the stenciling and that it isn’t a perfectly printed rug.
You may also notice the table in the picture above. It was a garage sale find that I turned into a Farmhouse table with just a few steps. You can find the tutorial here.
I am now thinking about going back and painting the grid bright turquoise. What do you think? Should I?
Above is a small portion of my view as I am sitting in my red chair as I enjoy some music and my favorite drink of choice right now…Twisted Mango Diet Coke.
Thanks for joining me while I am sharing a couple of my DIY Apartment Summer Porch Ideas. I have a few more creative ideas for my new back porch, so I hope you will stop by again, very soon.
My talented, creative and smart blogging friends have SO many incredible Outdoor Project ideas. And I am excited to share them with you…
