As most of you know, we live in a teeny, tiny condo. Soon we will be moving to a “new to us” apartment. It will be a little bigger than where we are now. BUT, we still won’t have a garage. That means I need to create some DIY Small Apartment Storage Ideas.
Since living in a small space for years now, with limited areas for storage, I have used my laundry “closet” for our garage supplies.
We have a truck that needs regular maintenance, I like to paint furniture, use my electric sander, organize my hammer and nails, etc… You know, these are all things that would normally be stored in a garage.
With moving boxes everywhere, I decided to use what I already have. A laundry closet and moving boxes. Since I wanted a cohesive look in the laundry closet, I thought it would be fun to decorate each box.
TIP: These boxes are relatively sturdy and tall enough for our garage supplies. If a box needs to be studier, I wrap it with packing tape on the bottom, and even around the sides.
What you will need to create your own DIY Small Apartment Storage Ideas:
*moving boxes to fit a closet shelf
*2 1/2-3 yards of your favorite fabric
*craft paint or interior paint in colors of your choice
*hot glue gun
*hot glue sticks
I made fabric covered boxes and it was SO easy. I didn’t want to create more work for myself than I needed.
Measure all four sides of your box.
Measure the height of your box.
Cut a strip of fabric measuring the width and length of your specific box.
Using your hot glue gun and hot glue adhere the fabric to the outside of the box. Easy, right?
For another look, paint your box with craft or interior paint. I, personally did two coats of paint. But you can do what you like to make it your own.
I chose to wrap the top with a 1 inch leftover ripped strip of fabric. I attached it with hot glue.
To me, the icing on the cake are the chalkboard labels. I found mine on Amazon.
This is just a simple, general idea of what you can do for DIY Small Apartment Storage Ideas. With my favorite cost-little to none!
For a little added touch, I put ceramic knobs on the laundry closet doors, with some fairy lights hanging on the shelf. Who says apartment living has to be dull?
These are a couple of DIY Small Apartment Storage Ideas that have worked for me. I hope they work for you, too.
