What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

September 4, 2013 By Meegan 7 Comments

Last week I promised I would share more of the bridal flowers I did for a wedding a few weeks ago.  I am excited to share those with you today.  So what do you do with extra wedding flowers?  Hmmm…That is a really good question.  And I actually have an answer for you!

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

I gather every flower that is leftover.  (This time I didn’t have many at all.  But it was just enough for what I needed.)

I gathered the extra white hydrangeas.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

Then I gathered every berry and fern I had left over.  I like to use several types of berries and ferns.  They add variety and even more texture.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

I also gathered as many unusual flowers that were extras.  I like using flowers that are out of the ordinary, and not typical.  This flower reminds me of a stephanotis. (One of my favorite flowers)  And it smells SO sweet!

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

I gathered anything that had texture and a little added color would be just right for my idea.  And of course, a Garden Rose will be perfect, as well.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

Aren’t all of these flowers looking amazing?  They are just what I need for the idea I have for all of the extra wedding flowers.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

I love Garden Roses.  Have you ever purchased them?  They are different than other roses.  The scent is like picking a rose right out of the garden.  When ordering them, ask specifically for Garden Roses.  They will cost more-but worth every penny. I know the edges are brown.  But, if you remember from my bridal flower post last week,  I leave the brown petals on until the very last minute.  Then the flowers look as fresh as possible.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

Once I was done gathering all of my extras, I used an old pickle jar, wrapped it with burlap and tied it with the wedding color ribbon.  Perfect.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

It looks like a centerpiece, doesn’t it?  It is pretty enough to be one, right?  But, it isn’t a centerpiece at all. I only make one for every wedding I have worked on.

Can you guess where it goes?  It has a special place all it’s own.

What Do You Do With Extra Wedding Flowers?

Yep, I place it in the bathroom.  I think it is so fun to have fresh flowers from the wedding party in the bathroom.  It is inviting, it’s classy, and who doesn’t like fresh flowers in EVERY room?  This way each area of the wedding is covered with a portion of what is going on out in the reception area.  I have always loved this idea.  It’s like a special gift for the guests.

I am so happy you came by today to see what you do with extra wedding flowers.  I hope you will do the same for some of your family or friends when they get married.

I would love for you to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  Now you will never need to ask “What do you do with extra wedding flowers?”  You will have the perfect answer.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty Jars

August 15, 2013 By Meegan 5 Comments

[slideshow_deploy id=’4254′]

This is a sponsored post on behalf of mason jars from Consumer Crafts.

Don’t you just love all of the creative ways you can use a mason jar?  I could look at ideas for hours.  I am lucky enough to be a part of a sponsored group this Summer that sent me 1 dozen mason jars!  Yep, they are from Consumer Crafts.

I was also given the opportunity to order from their vast line of craft items and accessories. With my own inspiration I created a Mason Jar Wedding Lamp with Crafty Jars.  I am in wedding mode this weekend, as I am doing bridal flowers for a friend.  I was excited to get started to make my Mason Jar Wedding Lamp with Crafty Jars!!

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty Jars

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsThese are the items I ordered.  Fun, huh?  Pure wedding  creative juices coming through my brain as I look at all of these items!!

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsUsing the Krylon Glitter Spray, I sprayed my jar with 4 layers of  glitter.  Follow directions on the can.  Do this in a well ventilated area.  I did mine outside.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsI liked the glitter spray so much I also sprayed my “lamp shade”.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsWith a hole punch, I made holes for added depth and appeal.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsOnce my mason jar was dry, I filled it with 2 bags of no hole glass iridescent beads.  Then I turned on my battery operated votive and placed her in the jar.  Looking good so far…

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty Jars I used 20 gauge wire so have my “lamp shade” sit up high on the jar.  I made a loop once around the jar, then twisted it tight.  leaving a long end to hold the “lamp shade”.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsBringing the long end of  the wire straight up from the jar, I turned the wire into a spiral shape.  This will hold my “lamp shade” level.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsI ordered this feather comb from the bridal section at Consumer Crafts.  Yep, it’ s a hair comb.  But it adds just the right elegance to my Mason Jar Wedding lamp.  I used a heavy strength glue to adhere the comb to the jar.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsIsn’t she gorgeous?  She looks so happy and ready to be a gorgeous centerpiece for any wedding.

Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty JarsI just love Consumer Crafts!  I was able to find everything I needed for my Mason Jar Wedding Lamp With Crafty Jars.

Follow Consumer Crafts on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and on their blog Crafts Unleashed for mind blowing craft inspiration for any time of year and any event.

Thanks for joining me today!  I hope you are inspired with my Mason Jar Wedding Lamp and use your own inspiration and creativity.

Make it a terrific Thursday!

Wedding Flower Pictures And Ideas

October 9, 2012 By Meegan 14 Comments

Last week I shared with you the bridal flowersI did for my sweet friend.  I still have a few more pictures I would like to share with you.  This wedding was so much fun.  The bride knew exactly what she wanted, that made it so easy and fun!!

We purchased several different kinds of flowers, berries and leaves with different textures and colors.  We decided on 3 types of tablescapes, since there were 23 tables.  We could mix and match flowers and tablescapes, so not one table would be the same.  LOVE it!!  This particular table was all vases and jars at different levels.  Each vase or jar was wrapped with twine or ribbon coordinating with her colors.  Don’t you just love hydrangeas??  The leaves are Dusty Miller.

The wooden boxes were made by her fiancée with barn wood from his grandpa!!  Love the wood!!  It adds some dimension to each table.  In these jars we have roses, yarrow, baby’s breath, dusty miller, berries, stock, and filler.

One of the bridesmaids had these wooden disks for us to use, too.  It was fun to play with them.  They also added levels and texture.  We basically used the same flowers as the above pictures, but they take on a whole new look with using the wooden disk.

Some of the jars were wrapped with lace and ribbon.  So simple and beautiful!!

We bought some succulents to add to some of the bouquets, but then changed our minds.  So I thought they would be cute tied with twine.  People LOVED it!!  So simple.  Yet very effective.

We had 13 shepherds hooks holding jars with wire, as lanterns.  We placed a battery operated tea light in each one.  I thought it would look great with the real flowers in them the light the way, and look beautiful at the same time.

Here’s another view of the shepherds hooks.  Don’t you just love the doors??  So many ideas from this wedding.

And this is probably my favorite spot.  LOVE this dresser greeting all the guests.  I filled it with as many flowers as I could.  It was so fun.

I hope you have gotten some ideas for simple ways to decorate with flowers.  You don’t need to spend a lot.  Just use your creativity.  It is fun to step out of the box and use other flowers than you would normally see.  It is eye catching and definitely some your gusets will remember!!

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower Beauty

March 19, 2013 By Meegan 8 Comments

Good Tuesday morning!!  The birds are singing and the sun is warm.  Yep, you can feel spring in the air.  Love it!!  That also means it is wedding season.  That’s why I need/want to share a dumpster dive dresser turned wedding shower beauty. You are gonna love this!!

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyIsn’t she lovely???  Doesn’t she look beautiful??

After some good old TLC she looks amazing!!

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyThis is how I found her.  Yep, right next to our dumpster.  Just a shell of a dresser.

Our son was getting married and we were hosting an Open House for him.  I knew I needed this dresser.  I had big plans.

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyI painted her with primer.  I then dry brushed Teal Lake by BHG to fit the motif of the Open House.

We used her as a drink station for the open house serving fruit water and various hot chocolates.  She looked lovely and added ambiance to the evening.

Since Hubby isn’t handy in the wood crafting department, I knew I had to give this lovely away.  But, I couldn’t give her away to just anyone.  It had to be someone who would appreciate her.

My cute friend Barbara came to mind right off the bat.  Her hubby is a talented wood worker and could bring this beauty back to full life after Barbara’s simple and elegant touches.

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyI made the best decision ever!!  Can you believe this is the same dresser??  Her hubby made drawers to fit just right so it could be an actual functioning dresser.  Notice the chunky feet that were added.  They add character and texture.

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyAfter adding a white wash Barbara wanted some glass drawer pulls.  They add just the right touch, don’t you think??  Barbara had a vision and was able to pull it off beautifully!!

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyFor a wedding shower she was hosting, Barbara shopped her house and brought out all of her touches to add a vintage feel, and a small touch of color.

I was so happy to find my dumpster dive dresser.

Now she is dumpster dive dresser turned wedding shower beauty!

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyI arrived to Barbara’s just before the wedding shower started so I could see the dresser and she her magic touch everywhere. Amazing!!

If you remember, Barbara and I went shopping at the floral market last week.  After I gave her the floral tips for longer lasting blossoms, this is what I found:

Dumpster Dive Dresser Turned Wedding Shower BeautyIn 80 degree weather, her gorgeous florals looked incredible.  They were fresh, full, and ready join the dumpster dive dresser turned wedding shower beauty!!

Thanks for joining me today!  I have had so much fun with this post!  My hope is that you have, too!
