You know me. I am all about using my collection of sea shells for any season. Today I have a whole new way to Learn How To Decorate Pumpkins With Sea Shells in this simple tutorial.
This would be clever for a beach or neutral theme Fall decor or tablescape. The tutorial is easy using just a few components.
Let’s have some fun!
You will need:
a collection of the same shell
1 stem from a real pumpkin or a piece of driftwood
That’s it! Now you are ready to Decorate Pumpkins With Sea Shells.
I am using shells from my grandma’s collection. These shells are older than I am-and THAT’S old! There are mostly the small type of shell and basically the same size. You can see where they have been used in other crafts here.
For this project, sort your shells into the same size and shape categories, for a cohesive and even look.
Of course, as I always say: Do what YOU like. If YOU have another idea, please do that. It’s what creativity is all about.
Using small faux pumpkins makes this simple, with no worries of rotting before setting a Fall table.
This is how SIMPLE decorating a pumpkin with sea shells can be…
Take out the faux stem. Then hot glue the real stem where the faux stem was. Easy peasy, right?
Next-Dollop a dab of hot glue onto the crevasses or seams of the pumpkin.
While the hot glue is still HOT, set a shell on the glue to adhere it to the pumpkin. Be careful not to burn your fingers. There are finger protectors that you can purchase, that help a TON.
Continue filling each seam with shells in an even pattern.
TIP: I found that if I glued the shells to the very bottom of the pumpkin, it would not sit flat.
Once the hot glue has cooled down, you will probably have glue “hairs” and extra glue showing around your shells.
Use a hair blow dryer or heat gun to help them to melt and basically disappear. It just takes a few minutes and makes all the difference to give your shell decorated pumpkin a finished look.
As you can see the the picture above, for variation add a pumpkin decorated with a dollar store shell necklace, as well as the one we just made.
OR add a driftwood stem rather than the real pumpkin stem. The ideas are limitless!
Thanks for stopping by to Learn How To Decorate Pumpkins With Sea Shells. It’s been fun to have you here.
I hope you try this project for Fall decorating soon. I would love to see your own ideas.
Make it a wonderful day, friends!
