Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party Recap

February 21, 2014 By Meegan 2 Comments

Time for another Field Trip Friday!  This time I am sharing my Michaels HomeTalk Pinterest Party-which was SO exciting and FUN!  I love sharing my Field Trip Friday Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party with you today.

The Pinterest Party was on Feb 16th, in Henderson, NV.  I had been planning for weeks for this day.  I was really excited and nknew my party attendees would be too.

Okay let’s get started on the Field Trip… The Michaels classroom was set up with different ideas and crafts to get your creative juices flowing.  There was everything from burlap, to chalkboard ideas, to mod podge and stenciling available for anyone to try.

I brought my own treats for the party goers.  I filled vintage jars with candy and tied each of them with vintage rick rack and poms.  I also brought water bottles that I modified to fit the party.  Complete with my business card!!  (A tutorial for those is coming next week)

The staff at Michaels could NOT have been nicer or more accommidating.  From left to right:  Jennisha, Melissa, Christain (Asst Manager), and me.  Christain made public announcements about the party every 15 minutes in hopes to bring customers in the classroom. (We now follow each other on Pinterest)

We had this table set up right in front of the store with my Spring Inspired Fleur Pot and the Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles along with cards and invitations to join Hometalk and enter to with $100 Michaels gift card.

Jennisha and Melissa were amazing!  Jennisha would help customers find what they needed to make their Pinterest Party projects.  Melissa stopped people on their way into the store to tell them about Hometalk and invite them to the Pinterest Party.

These is the first 2 guests to our party.  They were so sweet.  They didn’t stay to craft, but they had a ton of questions for me.  They are planning a baby shower.  I helped them with choosing colors, to making labels for the candy bar, to what type of glitter to use, and how to emboss.  It was really fun to get to know them.

There were at lesast 25 people that walked through the classroom browsing and asking craft questions.  I talked to each one sharing the Pinterest Party ideas.  We talked about what Gesso is, how to make jewelry, how to write on a chalkboard, what should you buy to fill a brand-new craft room with, bakers twine, etc…  It great to hear their ideas and creativity.

Below is a collage from the highlights of the day.

These are my cute friends that came to support me.  Yep, even HE made a craft.  They each opted to make a bathroom container out of a flower pot for q-tips and cotton balls, using craft paint and gold leaf.

This is Jerica.  She was SO great!  She came to the party with a bag full of her own Pinterest pin ideas and evrything she needed to start a craft.  She shopped the store and came back with an arm full of items for her project.  She made her own 3-D K that she is going to decoupage labels on for her boyfriend.  She was the life of the party and a pleasure to get to know.

This cutie bought a journal and decorated it with pre-made flowers and stenciling.  SO cute!!

This is the regional manager, Denise.  She was there observing and after watching us for a little she was inspired to craft something for her home.

Denise was very accommidating and we had a great time crafting together.

All in all it was a wonderful day filled with new friends, creative juices, laughing, and new ideas.  Most of all Pinterest worthy projects.

Thanks Michaels and Hometalk for giving me an opportunity to be a part of such a fabulous event!  It was my dream as a blogger to be one of “those” bloggers.  And I was able to achieve that goal at the Pinterest Party.

Thanks for joining me for Field Trip Friday, Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party.  It was a blast and a dream come true!

Make it a field trip Friday!

DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles

February 14, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

[slideshow_deploy id=’6144′]

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!  This past week has been full, fun and exciting!  I made another Pinterest Party craft and I am excited to share it with you.  My DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles are SO EASY.  They look fabulous in your bathroom or even a guest bath for visitors.  I think they would even be a great gift for a guest to take home with them.

You will love how easy and simple this craft is.  I will be sharing it at the Michaels Hometalk Party on Sunday.

I bought 3 different sizes of bottles.  I liked the various shapes, as well.  You can get all the same color and shape if you wish.  There were lots of colors to choose from:  yellow, hot pink, green and aqua.

To fill each bottle, I carefully poured the shampoo and body wash into the smaller bottles.  But when it came to the bath salts.  That was a little more tricky.  Using a piece of computer paper, I twisted it into a cone and placed it in the bottle.

Using a measuring cup, I carefully poured the bath salts into the paper cone.  I was careful not to spill or over pour the salts.  Patience was the key to not making a huge mess.

Once my jars were full, I placed a chalkboard label on each bottle.  Using the chalk that came with the labels, I wrote the name of each ingredient in the bottles.  I tried adding a little flair for fun.

I like to use jute anywhere I can.  It’s a creativite way to add some personality to a gift, jar or even my DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles.  I wrapped the jute around the top of the bottle and tied a simple knot at the top to hold it together.

Since chalkboards are all the rage right now, these will look just fab in the bathroom sitting on a vintage china tray.  Adding a wash cloth tied with jute, also adds the perfect touch, don’t you think???

If you are following me on any social media, you will see that I have been talking, instagraming, and tweeting all about theMichaels Hometalk Pinterest Craft I have been working on!  It is so exciting to be paired up with Michaels and Hometalk.

If YOU want to attend a Pinterest Party, Michaels is having one at EACH and EVERY one of their stores in the US and Canada!  Yep, isn’t that awesome???  The exciting part about it, is that Michaels and Hometalk asked 100 bloggers to help them host the party.  So, YOU might get to meet a blogger when you attend your Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party this Sunday!  For more information and all the details look here.

I hope you will visit your local Michaels this Sunday and make a craft that you have pinned.  Now, you have a set time to make it your own, instead of just looking at it on your Pinterest Board.  Sounds fun to me!!

I can’t wait to meet and craft with some of you and/or your friends!!

Make it a Happy Valentines Day!
