Stenciled & Framed Book Page Quote

July 9, 2013 By Meegan 8 Comments

A few weeks ago Hubby was talking to his buddies at work.  They were commenting how they each have a “man cave”.  Then my husband popped up and said, “I don’t think I have a space in my house.”  I was already thinking about this, and feeling pretty guilty.  I have so much fun decorating our home, I really did forget to add his touch to our home.  I thought a great place to start would be our bedroom.  You know how much I love to work with book pages, so I made a Stenciled & Framed Book Page Quote for above our bed.

This quote, “I’m Glad you caught that pass”  has special meaning to us.  When we met the first time, we were playing football with a bunch of mutual friends out on a grassy area.  Hubby and I were on the same team.

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteHe was the quarterback and called the plays.  To tell you the truth, I am not too athletic.  I have rhythm and can dance, but to catch or throw a football, that’s not me.

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteWe were tied at 14-14.

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteAnd it was the last few minutes of the last quarter.

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteThe play Hubby called was for me to catch the ball in the endzone.  SO much pressure!!

I remember running towards the end zone, turning…

Stenciled & Framed Book Page Quotereaching both my arms straight out in front of me.  Before I knew what happened, I caught the pass!  I really caught the pass!  Hubby ran up to me, giving me a high five, saying, I can’t believe you caught that!  I threw that hard!”  He hadn’t ever noticed me until then.  But because of a football falling into my arms, he noticed me!!  Crazy, I know!

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteTwo weeks later we went on our first date.  At the end of the evening he said, “I’m glad you caught that pass.”

After our 3rd date, he finally kissed me, and again, he said,”I’m glad you caught that pass.”

Stenciled & Framed Book Page QuoteAfter we were married driving to our reception, he said,”I sure am glad you caught that pass!”

So to add a little of Hubby to our room, I made this Stenciled & Framed Book Page Quote.  Needless to say, he was so happy to see it hanging in our room.  By no means does this make our room a “man cave”, but it IS “us”, not just me.

I am also working on a few other ideas to bring his favorite color into our space.  I will be sharing that with you, too.

What is a favorite quote or saying that you could add the make your space more personalized?  Do you have a story that needs to be told and shared in your home?   I would love for you to tell me.

Thanks for stopping by today.

DIY Pottery Barn Knock Off Net Ceramic Vase

June 18, 2013 By Meegan 32 Comments

Good Morning. It’s a beautiful day and I am excited to share a DIY Pottery Barn Knock Off Net Ceramic Vase.  While I was in Oregon visiting our daughter, she had a brain storm of an idea.  She loves browsing through the Pottery Barn catalogs, and she came across a Net Ceramic Stool for $179.  She loved the look, but not the price.

Her solution to that was this:

Let me show you how she did it…

While I was in Oregon, my daughter and I did lots of traveling, crafting, shopping, thrifting, antiquing, eating, and laughing. We had so much fun!  She has a lot of DIY projects in her home. They are all very impressive.

I fell in love with these DIY refrigerator magnets using vintage brooches and pins.

Family History Monogram

June 6, 2013 By Meegan 10 Comments

Are you looking for a meaningful Fathers Day gift?  This Family History Monogram could be the answer…  It’s easy, original, doesn’t take a lot of time, and trendy.  AND no one will have anything like it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Our family loves the history of our ancestors, so this is a wonderful idea to share family history and family spirit.

You will need:

an empty frame

family history

aged paper

poster board

mod podge

a hollow monogram

paint

9001 glue

I found some of Hubby’s family history.  I then copied it on aged paper.  (I would never use the original)

Once my pages were copied, I tore them specifically so that our last name was shown on each piece.  Clever, huh??  I mod podged them onto a poster board cut the same size as my needed frame.  I painted a hollow monogram (I made my own) and attached it to the family history poster board.

I used 9001 glue to adhere the monogram and then the poster board to the frame.

Paint your frame to match your decor and/or your frame.  She is looking pretty good so far!

I thought it would look nice hanging on our gallery wall, along with the grandkiddos and our parents pictures.

It finishes off the gallery wall with balance and meaning.

So, there you have it.  My Family History Monogram.

I hope you make one for the Father in your life soon.  It is a meaningful gift anytime of year.  But, fathers are so hard to buy for, I thought this would be an ideal gift.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I love having you here!
