I”ve Got The Monday Blues

November 19, 2012 By Meegan 14 Comments

It’s Monday!!  How was your weekend??  We were busy hosting an Open House for our son and his lovely bride.  We had amazing help, wonderful people visiting, and delicious food!!  I can’t wait to show you the pictures!!  But for now it’s time for “The Monday Blues“…

First off, This is from Sowdering about in Seattle:

Randi refreshed this dresser for her kids.  Don’t you just love this deep blue with the black drawers??  She also hand painted each knob.    So creative and talented!!  Thanks for sharing Randi!!  I look forward to having more blues from you very soon!!

Now for my own “Monday Blues“:

I've Got The Monday BluesI literally found this by our dumpster on a Saturday afternoon.  I was SO excited!! My Hubby was at work, so I called my neighbor, and he helped me haul it up upstairs to our place!  Woo!!  She was basically a frame of a dresser.  Not even a dresser!!

I knew I wanted to clean her up, fix her up, and use her for the wedding festivities.

I decided to prime her and then think about a color and style for her.

So what do you think?  From dumpster to wedding... Pretty good, huh??  I also added my book page garland for some texture.

I dry brushed BHG Teal Lake to add to the colors of the wedding.  I have used this same color in other places in our home as well.   All she needed was a little paint and some love.

She looked do pretty holding the drinks for the open house this past weekend!!

Not too bad for a freebie, huh??  I am excited to share “My Monday Blues” with you every week!  I hope you will be excited to share your blues with me as well.

Have a Blue Monday as you are getting ready for Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season!!

I will be seeing you on  Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk, Google +, and Stumble Upon.

Wedding Flower Pictures And Ideas

October 9, 2012 By Meegan 14 Comments

Last week I shared with you the bridal flowersI did for my sweet friend.  I still have a few more pictures I would like to share with you.  This wedding was so much fun.  The bride knew exactly what she wanted, that made it so easy and fun!!

We purchased several different kinds of flowers, berries and leaves with different textures and colors.  We decided on 3 types of tablescapes, since there were 23 tables.  We could mix and match flowers and tablescapes, so not one table would be the same.  LOVE it!!  This particular table was all vases and jars at different levels.  Each vase or jar was wrapped with twine or ribbon coordinating with her colors.  Don’t you just love hydrangeas??  The leaves are Dusty Miller.

The wooden boxes were made by her fiancée with barn wood from his grandpa!!  Love the wood!!  It adds some dimension to each table.  In these jars we have roses, yarrow, baby’s breath, dusty miller, berries, stock, and filler.

One of the bridesmaids had these wooden disks for us to use, too.  It was fun to play with them.  They also added levels and texture.  We basically used the same flowers as the above pictures, but they take on a whole new look with using the wooden disk.

Some of the jars were wrapped with lace and ribbon.  So simple and beautiful!!

We bought some succulents to add to some of the bouquets, but then changed our minds.  So I thought they would be cute tied with twine.  People LOVED it!!  So simple.  Yet very effective.

We had 13 shepherds hooks holding jars with wire, as lanterns.  We placed a battery operated tea light in each one.  I thought it would look great with the real flowers in them the light the way, and look beautiful at the same time.

Here’s another view of the shepherds hooks.  Don’t you just love the doors??  So many ideas from this wedding.

And this is probably my favorite spot.  LOVE this dresser greeting all the guests.  I filled it with as many flowers as I could.  It was so fun.

I hope you have gotten some ideas for simple ways to decorate with flowers.  You don’t need to spend a lot.  Just use your creativity.  It is fun to step out of the box and use other flowers than you would normally see.  It is eye catching and definitely some your gusets will remember!!
Are you following me on Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk , Stumble Upon and Google+?  It would be so fun to have you along with me there, too!!

Make it a terrific Tuesday!!

Bridal Flowers

October 2, 2012 By Meegan 20 Comments

I have been telling you about bridal flowers for weeks now.  I finally worked with bridal flowers this past weekend.  It was a blast, and they came out beautiful!!

I am excited to share them with you:

Mom's Corsage

This is the mom’s corsage.  The bride’s mom wanted a very simple corsage.  It consists of an antique white rose and white hydrangeas.  With a simple satin bow it is simple and beautiful.  Just how the bride wanted it!

Full Bridal Bouquet

The bride’s bouquet:  Antique white roses, peach roses, garden roses, geranium leaves, and Beerzilla (Silver).  Isn’t it just so beautiful??

 Bridal Flowers

I also made 6 bridesmaids bouquets.  They included white hydrangeas, antique white roses, cox comb, Hypericom berries, and a few Brerzilla (silver).

 Jennies Bridal Flowers

Each bouquet was wrapped with burlap and lace.  The lace matched the bridesmaid’s skirts.

Jennie's wedding dresser

This walking up to attend the reception.  The bride wanted the open drawers FULL of  flowers.  I added baby’s breath, peach roses, bells of Ireland, and yarrow.

Love, love, love!!

Wooden Fence with Engagement pictures and flowers

I decided to have bouquets  hanging on the “fence” behind the buffet line, along with a few pictures of the bride and groom.  I love this vintage look, don’t you?

 Bride and Bridal bouquet

Is that one happy bride, or what??  Thanks Jennie and Brandon for letting me be a part of your wedding day.  It was one I won’t forget for a very long time.

I will post more pics later from the reception.  I probably, easily took 100.

Make it a terrific Tuesday!
