Easy, Simple Fall Bookcase With a Cottage Feel

October 18, 2012 By Meegan 3 Comments

I am swamped with things to do within the next couple of weeks, as we prepare for our son’s wedding.  BUT, I do want to share with you some of the easy, simple Fall bookcase with a cottage feel I do have around our home.  It was SUPER EASY and fun to get my creative juices going!

I basically used the same foundation as my Summer Shelf, but took away my shells and added new Fall elements.  Easy and effective.

I found the clear pull knobs at HL. I knew I needed them!!  I added Billy Balls to the vintage blue bottle for some Fall color.  I also switched out shells and rocks for pumpkins.

I found the artichokes at PB a few years ago.  They are working well in our home now matter the season.  Love it!!  Both candle sticks were thrift finds.  I painted them to fit our decor.

Here is just another look at all the elements and colors.  Same blue, same style with just a touch of Fall added.  It is so easy to change things up in your home for each season.  I have been doing it for years and I hope you can see how fun it is.  You don’t need a lot to make a difference.

I hope I have inspired you to bring a little bit of Fall to your home with my Easy, Simple Fall Bookcase With a Cottage Feel .  If you have decor already to place around your home, and don’t have a lot of time-just put up a few things.  (I literally still have a full container full.)  You still bring the season into your home without the clutter and taking up too much time.

Enjoy your day and treasure those you love.

My 10 Minute Halloween Porch

October 17, 2012 By Meegan 5 Comments

I love Halloween and seeing all the cute little trick or treaters!!  I love their little faces looking up at me as they say “Trick or Treat!”  SO cute!!  How could I not set up my 10 minute Halloween porch?

I didn’t think Halloween was going to be set up for us this year.  But, it seriously took just a few minutes to create a Halloween Porch for our trick or treaters…

Most of the decor is from when our kids were little.  Love the almost dead flowers.  Great touch.

I printed this out and placed it in a frame.  I also glued 2 spider rings for some depth.  (I cut off the ring)

I painted this Jack-o-Lantern about 20 yrs ago.  I always want to throw it out, but the kids won’t let me.  The watering can was a present from Hubby with tulips in it.  (Yes, I know-I am lucky!)  I have fun lighting up the pumpkins wrapped around the topiary every night.

Can you tell I like Jack-o-Lanterns??  I love happy ones.  They are so cute and welcoming for the kids.

This pirate cracks me up.  And the mouse is to creep Hubby out when he comes home from work.  (We like playing practical jokes on each other)

Here is the whole porch along with my Easy Halloween Wreath.

It is always fun to look forward to Halloween and seeing all the costumes and creativity,  but especially the cute faces when I hand them a piece of candy with I see them looking at all the accessories on my 10 minute Halloween porch!

Do you decorate for Halloween?  How many trick or treaters do you get?

Make it a wonderful Wednesday!

I “Fell into Fall” Mantel

October 11, 2012 By Meegan 10 Comments

We don’t have many little kiddos nearby who come over, so I wasn’t sure if I was even going to do any decorating for Halloween. With seeing all the cute and fun ideas around, I hopped on the bandwagon.   After gathering my Fall accessories I put together my: I “Fell into Fall” Mantel

Some of the items have sentimental value.  The “Happy Halloween” can was made our youngest son when he was in Cub Scouts.  Now he will be married in just a few weeks.

Isn’t the pumpkin so awesome????  I made it last year after a visit to Pottery Barn.  I KNEW I needed one!  I found a fake pumpkin (of course).  Painted it white.  Let that dry, then mod podged old book pages to it.  After 3 coats of mod podge, I let her dry for a few days.  I then sprayed silver glitter all over for a more expensive, stylish look.  The “trunk” is just stick I found outside.  I added a little green moss around the top, for a finished look.

Here is a closer look of this beauty!!

I also made the BOO sign last year.  I copied it, cut it out, then glued it onto black ribbon.  With glitter puffy paints, I outlined the letters.  So fun!!  The owl is from Target in the dollar section-score!

My hubby bought me the candy corn wreath, because I LOVE candy corn SO much!  I think the bat is cute, too.  The bear was a gift from a friend.  Don’t you just think she looks cute with her witch hat and collar??

This is a view along with my Fall Paper Decor.  Yep, I finally decorated my “Fell into Fall” Mantel.

Make it a wonderful Thursday!!

Fall Paper Decor

September 24, 2012 By Meegan 23 Comments

Okay, okay, now that Fall is really here according to the calendar, I can start sharing a few Fall projects around our home.  I just had to let Summer last as long as possible.  I just love Summer-what can I say??  I started by making some Fall Paper Decor.

I decided to use my grandpa’s croquet box as the base.  I played around with coffee filters after making the coffee filter wreath.  I decided to dye some in tea.  I soaked the filter in a pot of tea overnight.  So I taped up a few book page cones-and started to play.

Fall Paper Decor

This is my final result.  I am very pleased how she turned out.  I used a few empty jars, filled them with my book page cones, then added my tea dyed “flowers”.

I made the “flowers” just like I did for the coffee filter wreath-EASY PEASY!!

I also added torn pages to “fill in” in-between the jars.

Fall Paper Decor

I REALLY like my book page flower-so I clipped her onto the croquet box.  Great addition, don’t you think??

Fall Paper Decor

I was walking back from the pool and the pine cones caught my eye-just the right touch for Fall decor.

Now I have a little Fall decor with a little imagination.  She looks pretty right here for everyone to see.

I had fun add some Fall Paper Decor to begin Fall decorating.

What paper projects have you done lately?  Please share them with me.  I am discovering all kinds of different ways to use paper.  It is a creative outlet I am really enjoying.

Thanks for following me.

Make it a marvelous Monday!!
