November 12, 2012 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Yay!!  It’s Monday!!  After a week of resting, washing 24 table cloths, and 100 chair covers, and trying to get our house back in order from our son’s wedding, I’ve Got “The Monday Blues“.  But, I LOVE the blues-so it’s all good!

This week Grace from Kitchen Table Art sent me another one of her favorite blues.

I Have The After Wedding, Monday Blues!!

November 5, 2012 By Meegan 4 Comments

Hello, Hello!!

It has been super busy and really wonderful this past weekend with ALL 7 of our children and all but one of the grandbabies!!  And, now “I Have The Monday Blues”!!  I am so excted to share all the decorating and ideas we came up with for our son’s wedding, but until tomorrow when I can share some wedding pics, I have the blues:

The first blue this week is from Shannon over at “Shab 2 Fab””

Shannon said: This is one of my recent personal pieces. I call her Lady Blue Jean.   She was a complete accident…those are my favorites.  Thanks SO much for sharing Lady Blue Jean with me today!!

My next “Blue” is from Grace  over at Kitchen Table Art.   This is very creative and simple:
Grace has the full tutorial over at Kitchen Table Art.  Along with lots and lots of ideas and Blue!!  When you pay her a visit please let her know I sent you!!

My Monday Blue is a thrifted and refresthed mirror I found for $8!!

Love the shape and size.  Perfect for what we need.  I have been looking and formulating a full length mirror in my head for months now.  I thought I would go ahead and just buy a decent one.  No prob.  But I saw this beauty my mind and heart were changed.

This mirror is actually suppose to be attached to a dresser.

This is the space that needed a full length mirror.  Not only did we need a mirror, but that lovely panel in our bedroom did not look so lovely next to our vintage shelf.

So I got to work.  I sanded the wood.  Then painted in with BHG Teal Lake/Semi Gloss.

After the teal paint was dry, I applied antique white craft paint.  While it was still wet I wiped it with a dry paper towel.
When the antique white was dry, I used a small amount of Ace Hardware’s Hint of Olive.  I brushed it VERY uneven as you can see below.

Hubby was so excited!  He took the brackets off for me,  and with a 20 gauge wire, hung it for me!  Now we have a full length mirror!  And our lovely electric panel box is gone, too.

I used a Medium 10 gauge sandpaper to rough it up.  I think my mirror looks great, don’t you?  I am SO excited about this new mirror, I keep walking in the bedroom to take a look.  Because you know, I could be dreaming!!  Yay!  Now when we are getting ready, we can see what we REALLY look like, instead of just from our waist up!!

I would LOVE to see your BLUES!!  Email or message me so I can share your blues next Monday!!  I can’t wait to see what you have to share!!   I am also on Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk and Stumble Upon.  Come join along with me as I share what I love, and love what I do.

Make it a Blue Monday!!

The “Monday Blues” Hits Again!!

October 29, 2012 By Meegan 1 Comment

Oh my, oh my!!  I started The Monday Blues last week and I am SO excited to share so much more  blue with you!!  I received several emails and blues-this is going to be SO much fun!!

Gotta love me some BLUE!!

First off,  this blue is from Rhea at  SaltAire Restoration.   You can visit Rhea on her Facebook page, too.

Rhea’s husband calls it a Key West-Cottage look. This was originally a vintage piece that need a face lift. He replaced the bottom by adding the bun feet and then distressed it.  This one happened to remind him of a home he saw while in Key West. The home was trimmed in the blue and the boards on the house looked like the sides of the table.

Our next blue is From Leslie:

Leslie says: Here’s my favorite piece in my home, It was a wedding gift from my good friend Bonnie. It says “Christ is the center of our Home” it hangs right above our piano.

My next blue is from Emilee over at Momma Made It:

Emilee said: I thrifted this metal watering can for $1 it was a great find and it just makes me smile!

The next blue is from Heidi:

Be sure to visit Heidi’s blog for more blue ideas and fun!!

Another beautiful blue from Meg over at Nutmeg Place:

Meg love s all things blue-so I have a feeling we will be seeing more blue from her!!

And our final blue of the week is from Eileen:

Isn’t this just absolutely gorgeous?  Eileen made this “Tree of Life” for her husband.  So much talent!!

And for my blue this week, has got to be:  How to Dye Coffee Filters:

Our son’s wedding is this coming Saturday and I have dyed over 2500 coffee filters in blues and greens.  So, this would have to be my fave Monday Blues.

Thanks to ALL of you that emailed your beautiful and creative blues to me!!  I look forward to more next week!!

Thanks for having the Monday Blues with me!!

Make it a Blue Monday!!

Welcome to”The Monday Blues” #2

It’s MONDAY!!  And from now on:I've Got "The Monday Blues"

Last week  was my first “The Monday Blues” post, and from here on out, every Monday I will be sharing some of my fave blue projects in my home, and yours.  Your pic can be something you made, refreshed, or purchased.  I just love blue and want to share your “Blues”, too.

Come along and join me as I feature YOUR “Monday Blues“!!

First off, Meg from Nutmeg Place emailed me right off the bat.  She is sharing her Wythe Blue Kitchen.

Can you say LOVE?  Meg is quite talented and creative.  I have a feeling I am going to receiving lots of “Monday Blues” pics from my friend Meg!!   Thanks Meg!  You are awesome!!!

My next “Blue” pic is from my cute  friend Gracie from Kitchen Table Art.

Gracie found this cart in her parent’s barn all filled with dust and spider webs, but being a “blue” lover like me, she fixed her up and made her look SO much better!!  Cute, cute, cute Gracie!!

Thanks to both Meg and Gracie for being the FIRST features on “The Monday Blues”!!!

Be sure to email me YOUR “Blue” so I can feature you next week!!

Now for MY fave blue this week:

When we moved into our 2 bedroom condo, we wanted more “living space”.  So we chose to make the second bedroom a TV room.    It has worked out perfectly. We have our living room as pictured here, and an extra room to entertain.  When the grand kids come over, this is the room they like best.  The toys, crafts, games, movies are all in the closet.  They can watch TV, and/or play games while the adults visit.

One problem with making this a TV room was this wall:

Welcome to"The Monday Blues" #2

I could not for the life of me figure out what to do with this space.  I actually even considered hanging my husband’s REAL LONGHORNS up above the closet.  He REALLY liked that idea!

I have been thrifting and purchasing empty frames.  And while we were de-junking our storage unit, we found quite a few frames that I could paint up and use SOMEWHERE.

I also had enough colors of paint to use.  I kept thinking I wanted to add sea glass colors to this room.  I started painting.  Mixing and matching colors.  Paining and sanding my frames till they were just right.  I then strung a 28 gauge galvanized wire across each frame.  (If you look closely you can see the wire)

Welcome to"The Monday Blues" #2

So far, so good!!  Yay!!  I liked it!!

Welcome to"The Monday Blues" #2

With my mixed and matched colors I painted some clothes pins to hold my pictures.

Welcome to"The Monday Blues" #2
I love the look and used space for this wall now!!  (I was standing on the ladder when I took this picture, so you could get a good look at the detail)
Welcome to"The Monday Blues" #2
I am VERY pleased with how it looks.  I didn’t want every frame perfectly spaced.  I wanted it a little messy and shabby.  I think I created what I was hoping for!
Do you have a wall or space in your house that needs “a little something” OR  a little blue?   Email me a pic, so I can share here next Monday!!  I am  excited to see your “Monday Blues”!!  WOO!!
Thanks for stopping by “The Monday Blues”!!  It means so much to have you here!!  I am also on Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk and Stumble Upon.  I would love for join me.
Happy BLUE MONDAY everyone!!
