Spring is so pretty with blossoms, the sun and outdoor activities. Not only that, but Mother’s Day is around the corner. As long as I can remember our Mother’s Day celebrations were filled with small presents, family and lots of food.
When I became a mom, Mother’s Day was a precious day to spend with my little ones. As our family grew older, I dreaded Mother’s Day. It seemed to be a reminder of all the mistakes I was making on a day to day basis. UGH!
Then one year, the light bulb lit up. Whatever mistakes I was making as a mom were never intentional. NEVER. I wanted our children to grow up and become responsible, law abiding, God loving adults. My heart was always in the right place no matter my imperfections. I began to accept what Mother’s day is meant to be. A day to honor Mothers. Not a day to only honor PERFECT mothers.
Now when I receive a darling hand drawn picture, a sweet locket, or a painted rock-I appreciate it for what it is. A thank you for being a mom and/or grandma. Those are some of the most treasured gifts I will ever receive.
