Vintage Lace, Ribbon and Thread in Milk Bottles and Vintage Jars

May 1, 2013 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Hello Hello!  The flu bug is still hanging around me, but I am trying to beat it…  In the meantime,

There are several things that make me smile.  Definitely my family, the ocean, the color blue, and vintage items.  I like the idea of a vintage look all over our home.  No matter what room it is.  That is why I like my vintage lace, ribbon and thread in milk bottles and vintage jars.

The ribbon, lace and thread all came from my Grandma’s collection.  Some of  the items are from when she was learning to sew as a child.

I found the wire basket at the thrift store for $1.00.  It is a perfect home for my milk bottles.  Adding the vintage lace completes the look I was hoping for.

The vintage Ball jar was a gift from Hubby years ago, and now is the home for my vintage seam binding, pins, ribbons and ric rac scraps.

The buttons are all from Grandma and my mom.  Buttons are something else that make me smile.  I don’t why, but they do.

I also like the wooden spools in the largest jar.  Another thrift find for a $1. Vintage Lace Ribbon and Thread in Milk bottles and Vintage jars

The milk bottles are from Hubby.  He likes vintage milk bottles, too.  I’m lucky, huh?

I just can’t get enough of this shelf in our office.

I made the chalkboard with homemade chalk paint.  Easy.  And interchangeable for whatever or wherever I want.

It always amazes me how the small things make a difference.  The vintage lace, ribbon and thread in milk bottles and vintage jars make a huge statement on an otherwise boring bookshelf

and, they make me smile…

What makes you smile in your home.  What vintage items can you bring out for display in your home?  Thinks about it and then let me know what you come up with.  I’d love to hear about it.

Curbing My Sweet Tooth with Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candies

April 29, 2013 By Meegan 1 Comment

My Hubby LOVES Werther’s!  Really LOVES!!  We both have a sweet tooth.

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing if you could enjoy a truly sweet, satisfying moment with rich caramel taste without the sugar?

Werthers Original Sugar Free Caramels are usually in our home, in my purse, and on our computer desk.  Hubby and I both love the taste and rich caramel flavors.

Satisfy your craving for real caramel with Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candy. Only 8 calories a piece, yet rich in that comforting caramel indulgence you have always loved.  Just one taste and you will feel like a kid in a Caramel Shoppe again!!

Every piece is crafted with Werther’s 100-year-old caramel making tradition in mind.

Being health conscience and with diabetes running in my family, we are aware of benefits of sugar free candy.  Most other sugar free candy taste blah, and well, sugarless.  The Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candies have the rich taste you crave without an after taste.

The Werther’s Original Sugar Free Candies taste amazingly delicious, you would never know they are sugar free.  There are 4 flavors:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Caramel Coffee, Caramel Apple, Caramel Cinnamon, and Caramel Hard Candy.  Each candy is made with real butter and fresh cream.

As we have tasted and tried each flavor, we would never guess that there are only 8 calories and 3 carbs per candy.  And, have 40% fewer calories than Werther’s Original caramels.  They really are that flavorful and creamy.

My fave flavor would have to be the Caramel Apple with the distinct taste of caramel dipped apples.  Hubby likes the Caramel Cinnamon which is creamy, smooth caramel with a warm cinnamon flavor.

But it is hard to choose a favorite flavor among all four sugar free varieties.

Make it a great day!

Think Spring With FolkArt Enamels

March 29, 2013 By Meegan 18 Comments

I have been honored this month to be a part of the March Plaid Street Team.  I showed you my goodies in the mail, and now I have enjoyed using FolkArt Enamels.

The FolkArt Enamel paints, daubers and adhesive stencils can be found at Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, and A.C. Moore.

I decorated a”Think Spring” sign and a thrifted vase using these products.  It was easy and the directions are detailed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am excited to share the steps on how I made this.  So, let’s go!!collage

1.Choose your FolkArt Enamel colors and reusable adhesive stencils.  Use a dauber for the best distribution of paint.

2.After washing and drying your glass, place your reusable adhesive stencil on your glass.  Press all sides and areas of your stencil, so your paint won’t “bleed.”

3. Using your dauber fill your stencil with paint. Being sure to fill your stencil completely.

4. While the paint is still wet, peel reusable adhesive stencil off quickly; just like you would a band-aid. Quick and smooth.

It’s that easy!!

FolkArt Enamels are the perfect paint for glass.  You can also create your own designs using a brush like I did below:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI also wanted you to see this picture because when I first started, I didn’t fill my stencil enough. (As you can see in the lavender flowers)  But, once I got the hang of it, I realized I needed more paint than I originally thought. (Like I did with the yellow flowers.)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI am not an artist by any means, but I had fun adding centers, stems and leaves to my flowers.

Think Spring with FolkArt EnamelsThese ideas would also be a perfect Mother’s Day gift, don’t you think??

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter I made a vase, I thought it would be fun to make this sign for my friend who has had a rough winter.  Using the same steps and directions I made my “Think Spring” sign.

Thanks to Blueprint Social and FolkArt Enamels for the opportunity to share this project and enamels with my readers and followers!!
