I’ve Got The Monday Blues

April 22, 2013 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Hello Hello!!  I’ve got the Monday Blues!!  Even though I am visiting a new grand baby, the Monday blues hits me every time!!  Every Monday I share the blues that catch my eye during the previous week.

Since I have so many relatively new followers, I thought it would be fun to share some of my have blues in our home.

First, one of the blues in our home is in the laundry closet  I made this pair of mod-podge stenciled birdies just for the laundry area.  Everytime I open the doors, these birds make me smile.

I am loving this blue lamp.  My sweet friend bought me some blue paint and the first thing I wanted to do was to paint my lamp.  She looks pretty with my DIY floral lampshade.

Monday Blues

I like silhouettes, don’t you?  These 3 frames were black until I got to them.  They fit perfectly on the tiny wall in our office.  (Yes, the silhouettes are our 7 kids as children)

This corsage is my favorite, because I love the ribbon color, and the scent of fresh flowers in our home while I am doing bridal flowers.

I get some many compliments on this wall.  This is also in our office.  I love empty frames, and decided to paint the frames blue to add to our decor.

My blue birdcage looks amazing in our guest bathroom.  When I received her as a gift from my father, I couldn’t help but add blue to her already beautifulness.  I have tiny white lights in her all year long, so when we have guests they see my pretty blue birdcage.

I've got the monday bluesI hope you have enjoyed the Monday Blues as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you today.  Blue always make me smile and gives me such a calm and relaxing feeling.

Monday Blues-Lighting the Way

February 10, 2014 By Meegan 4 Comments

Happy Monday!!  I am finally out of bed and rid of the yucky flu that’s hitting everyone!!  Yay!!  Now I have the Monday Blues-Lighting The Way. Well, not exactly.  But you will see what I mean. This ending up being a really fun post for me to photograph and share with you.

Mirrors

I have been looking for months for some lights to drape over my mirror.  I found some at Big Lots.  They are patio lights.  I was so excited to get them home and light the way, per say.

But, to my surprise, they were not white bulbs at all, but colored.  Hmmm…I was disappointed.  I REALLY wanted white.  Well, the blue fit my color scheme, so that’s okay, I guess.

Whoa!  They were ever so slowly changing colors.  Hmmm…I might like these, but I still wasn’t sure.

Mirrors

But watching them change colors was kinda cool.  They were surprising me every few seconds.

From whites, to bues, to pinks, lavender, green and varied colors all at once.  I was falling in love with my new lights.

They are now one of the favorite spots in my home!  Who would have thought, right?  I went in the store looking for white lights and came home with something I like even more.

My Monday Blues-Lighting the Way.  Aren’t they fun, and inviting?  I light them up everytime I know visitors are coming.  It’s a nice ambiance for the whole room.  Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact, don’t you think?

Are YOU going to look for some lights to light the way in your home?  I would LOVE to see them!

While you are here..be sure to see YOUR invitation to the Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party .

Book Review and Interview with Heather Mann

October 21, 2014 By Meegan 5 Comments

Do you need a good laugh?  Do you need a good laugh about YOUR craft fails?  I KNOW I do.  CraftFail was just what I needed.  I am happily talking about a Book Review and Interview with Heather Mann today.

Craft Fail

I am one of the lucky few that get to see Craft Fail before it hits the shelves.  It has been a joy to read.  But first let me tell you a little bit about the author:

Heather Mann, the founder of CraftFail.com and DollarStoreCrafts.com, has been crafting with middling success all her life, but blogging expertly since 2000. She is also cofounder of The Blueprint Social, a social media consulting company and network of influential bloggers, and co-host of the web show Get a Little Creative. She lives and crafts in Salem, Oregon.

Here is a little insight about CraftFail:

But amidst all the terrible failure is a celebration of those among us who are brave enough to pick up the scissors and get crafty! Because even if you can’t make a handsome Papier mâché stag to hang on your wall, why shouldn’t you try? As Heather says, you learn more from trying and failing than not trying at all. And when it does go wrong—as it inevitably will—you can always find solace in sitting back and laughing at the ridiculous results. As one anonymous crafter said: “It wasn’t supposed to end this way.” Luckily for us, it did.

CRAFTFAIL (Workman; November 2014) illustrates the hilariously gruesome underbelly of the creative process.Inspired by her own craft experiences, Heather gathered real-life home decor fails, fashion fails, holiday fails, food fails, kid crafting fails, and best of all—EPIC fails (those projects that are so inspiring that they are attempted again and again by members of the crafty tribe to, quite frankly, disastrous results)! Filled with over 100 full-color photographs of the hoped-for outcome and the underwhelming reality (plus captions pointing out what went wrong), these embarrassing and often pathetic crafting attempts are the stuff that gets the “A for Effort” and LOL for outcome.

I was able to interview Heather.  This is how the interview went:

Question #1: Why did you decide to write CraftFail?

I have learned so much about the power of failing from running the CraftFail website that I wanted to share! And I wanted to share the LOLs, too, of course!

Question #2: What motivates you?

I am extremely motivated by the process of being creative, and also by the excitement of posting my creations online! I love to share with others who have a like-minded love of creativity.

Question #3: What do you want your readers to gain from your book?

First, I hope they’ll be entertained! Second, I hope they are encouraged to look at failing in a different light — it’s not something to be avoided, but to be embraced. I have learned so much from my various CraftFails, and I hope my readers will too.

CraftFail

It was late at night when Hubby and I hopped into bed.  I told him I had a book he might like to look at with me.  He said, “Meh, okay.”  Within just a few minutes of reading the tears were running down our cheeks from laughter.  We laughed till we cried.  We could relate in so many ways.  AND, we have been through more craft fails of our own than we could ever count.  Heather nails it on the head with what it is like to fail at crafts,  She sees the reality of Craft Fails and embellishes it perfectly.  The photos, the writing, and the humor is what every crafter can relate to on so many levels.  It is a MUST READ for EVERYONE.  I will definitely be sharing CraftFail with my family and friends.  It is a great gift.  I think anyone who reads CraftFail will laugh as much as I did, if not more. I can’t wait to look through my copy again…OH WAIT!  I have several times, already!

Pick up your copy of CraftFail soon.

Craft Fail

Make it a terrific Tuesday!
