Welcome to What Meegan Makes today. I am ready for Thanksgiving and excited to have a hold on Christmas already. I have been busy making Wood Disk Christmas Ornaments for our 24 grand-babies. Yes, you read that right 24! It is SO wonderful.
The one thing I like about Christmas is that we have traditions. One of the traditions I have is to give each grandchild a Christmas ornament. Sometimes they have their names, sometimes they all have the same kind, and this year they will each receive a Wood Disk Christmas Ornaments with their monogram.
It has become a fun tradition. Each year I try to be creative. I am done making ALL of them already. Whew! One step ahead of the game…
Let me show you how I made my own Wood Disk Christmas Ornaments.
I wish I could say that I have my own tree and cut the wood disks myself. BUT, I don’t and I didn’t. (That is the life of living in a condo, right?)
I started out with wood slices, white craft paint, and raised letter stickers by American Crafts.
Using a sponge brush, I painted the center of each wood slice, white. Once the paint was dry, I glued the sticker on with tacky glue. (I tried just sticking the stickers on without glue and they fell off.)
After all the initials were dry, I added some iridescent glitter with Mod Podge. I like the look of the metallic letter and the glitter together, don’t you?
To add a hook, I hot glued a small piece of jute to the top of the wood slice.
My next step was using more tacky glue and faux snow. My faux snow is various shapes and sizes of feathered plastic pieces. I purchased it at Michael’s.
The Wood Disk Christmas Ornaments came out just how I pictured in my mind. I think the grand-kids will like them, too. No matter their age.
So what do you think? Are you going to start a new Christmas tradition in your family, too?
Now on to finish shopping and wrapping presents…

OMG. This is absolutely brilliant! I actually have the logs in the backyard, so I’ll cut out a few myself. Thanks for sharing!
