How To Make a Faux Pumpkin Centerpiece

When the seasons change, I like to make a special centerpiece for the breakfast nook table. Something that is unique and one of a kind.  I thought you might want to learn How To Make a Faux Pumpkin Centerpiece for your Fall decorating, too.

The fun thing about this type of centerpiece is that you choose colors specific to your home. AND it doesn’t get old and die after a few days. Love it!

But first, let’s get started with learning How To Make a Faux Pumpkin Centerpiece!

What you will need:

1 large 10 inch tall faux FOAM pumpkin (choose a color and shape that you like)

3 stems faux flowers (choose colors that you like for Fall)

6-8 small sugar berries or pine cones

12-14 Strings of tree seed pods

hot glue gun

hot glue sticks

1 foot-non stretch cotton string

I found my large faux foam pumpkin at Joann and the faux florals at Big Lots. I like the variety of flowers, pompous grass, wheat stems and the faded yellow leaves. It gives off a very natural vibe to me. Exactly what I am going for.

I removed the faux stem from the top of the pumpkin and “dug” a hole so I could “stuff” the flower stems in about an inch to an inch and a half. (Like I did here) This will keep them standing up straight and secure.

You can arrange them now, but after decorating the pumpkin they will probably get messed up. Definitely your choice, at this point.

I like to wrap a cotton string around the base of the flower stems now. (Scroll a few pictures below to see what I mean.) Another way to keep them standing straight. Plus, I like the organic look of the cotton string-like they were purchased at the farmers market.

I collect sugar berries any chance I get. Whether we are at the park or hiking in the mountains-it’s fun to see what I can find.

Collecting seed pods is another weakness of mine. The organic color, the texture and natural look appeals to me.

Using the hot glue gun, I CAREFULLY attached the seed pods at every indentation or crevice in the pumpkin.

The seed pods were anywhere from 3-6 inches long. You could make each one the same length. As for me I like the whimsy style of various lengths.

At this point, I hot glued the sugar berries on top of the seed pods and around the base of the “hole”.

Your best bet is to add the glue, liberally to the sugar berry, then attach it to the pumpkin. I tried putting glue on the pumpkin then trying to get the sugar berry was impossible. Learn from me and pour the hot glue on the sugar berry, THEN place onto the pumpkin.

Now it was time to “curve” the seed pod ends onto the pumpkin. Gently pressing the seed string down and hot gluing them in place. This will prevent the seed pods from sticking out and breaking off. Also giving the centerpiece a finished look.

Fuss, bend and twist your faux flowers to your liking. Your Faux Pumpkin Centerpiece is ready for any Fall gathering or just for a seasonal touch in any home, office or even as a gift.

Add any other elements that YOU like. Pine cones, pumpkin seeds, pecans, Indian corn, Billy Balls, etc…
