Getting Ready For Holiday Guests

December 20, 2012 By Meegan 2 Comments

Are you getting ready for Holiday guests??  Are you tired of the same way you make your bed everyday?  Do you want to spruce your guest room up??  I have a few simple and no cost ideas to do just that!!

But before I share these ideas with you, I am Guest Hosting for Grace over at: Kitchen Table Art today!!!

I hope you will visit Grace and tell her I sent you!!

Okay, let’s get show on the road!!You have extra throw pillows, tight?  Extra blankets??  That’s all you need to make your guests fill warm and welcome!!

aa 020_wmThis is my bed most days.  Inviting, but I like to try other ideas, too!

aa 021_wmSame look, but with an added homemade afghan laid across the foot of the bed.  Just a little added warmth.

aa 024_wmNow I covered the pillows with the afghan, adding just a touch of color with one pillow.

aa_wmThese are pillows from our TV room.  I added a throw to the foot of the bed for texture.

aa 022_wmI LOVE color!  I brought these pillows in from our living room.  The colors flow perfectly with the bedroom.  More texture-more color.

aa 025_wm (1)During the warmer months I pull down the comforter and fold it in thirds at the foot of the bed.

aa 028_wmTo accomplish a fun look, leave your bedding a little messy.  It looks like someone actually lives here.  I added the TV room pillows, making them a little messy, too.

aa 032_wmIt’s nice just nice to remove the comforter altogether adding a few pillows.  Yes, I made the coral pillow.

aa 030_wmTake your shams off,  and add a couple of throw pillows.  Then add the color at the end of your bed with a colorful hand made afghan.  Adding another throw on top.

Living Room Makeover

November 25, 2012 By Meegan 6 Comments

We moved into this condo 2 years ago.  I have worked and tried to make it a warm and cozy home for us.  Here are the steps we have taken.

Our empty pallet:

I began to paint some of our accessories, frame and mats in blue and green tones.  I also added pillows and window treatments.  I was getting there. But, my creative juices couldn’t stop.

I restyled my lamp shade then painted the bookshelf white.

Then my cute hubby hung our yummy fan.  Isn’t he an awesome hubby???  The rug is from Ross.  Yahoo!!

I made a Book Page Wreath.  I sure love it!!  Then it was finally time to paint!!

Here is a view from the front door entry.  You can see my computer desk, and my branch tree.

For fun I added a small detail by painting the inside of the door.  It’s a surprise when you open the door.

I added Grandpa’s Croquet Box, and my new Cards Box.

After painting the walls and front door blue, I decided to add the same blue to the front of the book shelves.  Looking good!!

I really like the blue front of this now.  It makes the bookcase pop.
Oh!  Wow!!  I am in love with this room!!  There you have it!!  My living room makeover in a nut shell.
Since these pictures have been taken, I added my $10 Coffee Table.
I have a few more things I want to do in here. I would like make slipcovers for the sofa.  I will fill you in on that when I do

Yay!!  I am almost done!!  Woo Hoo!!

I hope you enjoy and appreciate our new space as much as we do!!  Now it is time to decorate for Christmas !

Don’t forget:

See you tomorrow for The Monday Blues, and on Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk, Google +, Stumble Upon, and now LinkedIn!!

Have a beautiful Sunday!!

I”ve Got The Monday Blues

November 19, 2012 By Meegan 14 Comments

It’s Monday!!  How was your weekend??  We were busy hosting an Open House for our son and his lovely bride.  We had amazing help, wonderful people visiting, and delicious food!!  I can’t wait to show you the pictures!!  But for now it’s time for “The Monday Blues“…

First off, This is from Sowdering about in Seattle:

Randi refreshed this dresser for her kids.  Don’t you just love this deep blue with the black drawers??  She also hand painted each knob.    So creative and talented!!  Thanks for sharing Randi!!  I look forward to having more blues from you very soon!!

Now for my own “Monday Blues“:

I've Got The Monday BluesI literally found this by our dumpster on a Saturday afternoon.  I was SO excited!! My Hubby was at work, so I called my neighbor, and he helped me haul it up upstairs to our place!  Woo!!  She was basically a frame of a dresser.  Not even a dresser!!

I knew I wanted to clean her up, fix her up, and use her for the wedding festivities.

I decided to prime her and then think about a color and style for her.

So what do you think?  From dumpster to wedding... Pretty good, huh??  I also added my book page garland for some texture.

I dry brushed BHG Teal Lake to add to the colors of the wedding.  I have used this same color in other places in our home as well.   All she needed was a little paint and some love.

She looked do pretty holding the drinks for the open house this past weekend!!

Not too bad for a freebie, huh??  I am excited to share “My Monday Blues” with you every week!  I hope you will be excited to share your blues with me as well.

Have a Blue Monday as you are getting ready for Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season!!

I will be seeing you on  Pinterest, Facebook, Hometalk, Google +, and Stumble Upon.

Six Fall/Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas

November 10, 2012 By Meegan 11 Comments

Oh my!!  Fall is upon us and Thanksgiving is just days away.  I thought it would be fun to share with you  Six Fall/Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas.  I LOVE using my kitchen shelves as a focal point.   I chose to decorate them with 2 different styles, so you can see how easy and simple Thanksgiving decor can be.

My first choice is going with all whites, browns and a touch of blue (you know how I love blue!)

I love the outcome of this look.  I used a jar from my croquet box filled with book page cones.  I also painted my little pumpkins, that used to be orange.  Super easy!!  I really like to use empty frames so I used this one from my tv room.

I used the same PB knockoff pumpkin from my Halloween Shelves.  I think it goes perfectly with the theme.  I have my grandparents old books that I used for levels.  The pine cones are from outside.  Again-easy peasy!!

I think is goes very well with my Fall Paper decor

For my #2 idea: I added Fall colors to my Fall Shelves, because Hubby still likes the traditional orange (which happens to be his fave color)

I used a few of the same elements, but added some traditional Thanksgiving colors as well.  Don’t you just love this scarecrow?  He is my fave!!

For my #3 idea:

I am so pleased with my Fall Coffee Table.  Simple and easy to bring Thanksgiving into our home.  I painted this orange pumpkin white to blend with my ideas.  I also rolled some book pages for a wreath look.

For my #4 craft:

Another great idea to bring Thanksgiving into your home.  Using your used jars and add book pages with mod podge. Let your imagination go and create something wonderful for your table or mantel with these.

For #5 decor:

I had so much fun making this paper decor!!  Again-easy simple and inexpensive!!  It took me less than an hour to put this altogether.  This would also look great as a centerpiece, don’t you think?

And, #6:

I also added some Fall decor on my bookshelf for a more Thanksgiving/Cottage feel to our home.   I love to use my PB artichokes all over the house!!  I love them in this vessel.  They are perfect with the pumpkins and gourds.

I hope you have been inspired to decorate for Fall with my Six Fall/Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas.  It’s fun to change up and move around accessories to get ready for the Holidays, don’t you think?
Make it a Super Saturday!!
