Mothers Day Book Page Garland

May 6, 2013 By Meegan 5 Comments

Hello Hello!!  I am excited today to share a tutorial for a Mothers Day Book Page Garland.  It’s super easy and perfect for a Mother’s Day decor!!

So, here we go!!

Elements needed:

Chipboard cards

Paint

Stencils

Twine

Fan Folded Book Pages

Hole Punch

I found these fabric covered chipboard cards at Michaels (4 in a package).  The package was labeled “Journal”, but I thought I could use them for a garland incorporating  it with my book page garland.

Using stencils I decided to spell out “Mom”.

I used craft paint along with my stencils.  Pink was just the right color!!  Love it.

Doesn’t it look great so far??

Using the same technique as I did with my book page garland, I had a Mother’s Day Garland in no time at all.

Wouldn’t she be so pretty hanging above your buffet table for Mother’s Day Brunch or Tea??

Book page banners are so easy to make.  I think your mom needs a Mothers Day Book Page Garland, don’t you?  This garland would also be great for a graduation party, Father’s Day, birthdays, you name it-it works.

My Vintage Shelves

April 4, 2013 By Meegan 11 Comments

After Easter was over, I decided to change my shelves.  I like to use them a focal point.  They are one of the first things you see as you walk in in our home.  So it is fun to change them up and move things around.  This time was no exception.  I am calling these my vintage shelves because the items look vintage.  They may not really be vintage.  But, it works for me. (hehe)

Actually a lot of these things are either from Hobby Lobby or the thrift store.  Score!!

Would you like to tour my vintage shelves??  Alrighty then, let’s get going!!

Vintage ShelvesThey are filled with things I love.

Vintage ShelvesOn the top you will find a finial that I purchased at HL.  Gotta love HL!!  I just love the colors and the aged, vintage look.  The candlesticks are both thrift finds that I painted with a flat white paint.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe large frame is usually hanging in the TV Room (which is now an office, a reveal on that coming soon!!)  The stenciled  fleur de lis is a project I hung in the guest bathroom for awhile. For now they look happy on my vintage shelves.

Vintage ShelvesThe bottom shelf holds another fur elise frame, along with an apothecary jar, family subway art (sorry, I don’t know where I got it-I found it long before I had a blog), and a silver candlestick that is a thrift find.  The door knob plate is also a HL find.  Love the color and detail.

Vintage ShelvesI love the feel of vintage with whites, blues, greens, and a little silver.  That must be why I like these shelves so much!!

Vintage ShelvesThis apothecary jar is a thrift find.  I like it filled with dried hydrangeas.

Do you have shelves or a mantel you like to decorate??

Vintage ShelvesThese shelves just make me smile!!  They have the colors, feel, and style I like.

I hope my shelves have inspired you to decorate your shelves, mantel or bookshelves this week!!

Thanks for letting me share my vintage shelves with you today!!  I love when you visit and leave a comment.  It makes my day!!  It REALLY does!!

A Can of Paint Makes All The Difference

January 17, 2013 By Meegan 13 Comments

I just love me a good can of paint, don’t you??  I think a can of paint makes all the difference.  What about you??  I want to show you how paint can make a difference in the look, feel, and balance of your home.  It doesn’t even take much time.  Just a little creativity.

Here are a few samples of what I mean:

Oh My Goodness!!  What a difference!

A Can of Paint Makes All The Difference

I love paint because of the fresh look, but also because of the minimal cost in the long run.  Not everyone can buy a new home, or afford to make over a room.  Start out by going to your local home supplier and purchase a quart of paint.  A quart goes a long way when you are painting furniture.

Have fun, be creative, and make your home a cozy place to be.  Try new colors.  Colors you have been longing to try, but don’t just have the courage to use.  Give it a try-just one small tester can even will work.  If you don’t like it-paint over it!!  That’s part of the fun and creativity as well.

Thanks for coming by today.  I love your visits and comments.  They make me smile everyday.

Make it a terrific Thursday!!
