Change It Up For The New Year

December 30, 2013 By Meegan 7 Comments

While putting away our Christmas I decided it would  be fun to change it up for the new year!  I felt the creative juices flowing to move things around and get a new look for the new year.   Do you do the same thing?  I like moving the furniture around and bringing in a Winter feel to our home.  Even though it can still be pretty warm around here.

I like to start with the shelves in my kitchen as a focal point.  I used some of what I had from my Christmas shelves and my Epsom Salt Jars.

Instead of keeping with all natural colors, I thought it would be fun to add some gold.  My Mom gave me lots and lots of pecans.

I also used them on my Anthro Inspired Pecan and Pine Cone Garland.

I used Krylon Metallic Indoor Gold to paint my pecans.  Don’t they look ready for a new year???

Using the jars from my Epsom Salts, I partially filled my jars with salt and my newly painted pecans.

I love that I even have a small gold stick to add to my jar, too.  I also removed all of the Christmas ornaments from each jar, giving the shelves a more winter feel, rather than Christmas.

Easy peasy!  I bought the small crystallized wreath from HL (at 50 % off, of course).    The wooden stump candle holders were also used on my Christmas Shelves.

I have a whole new look for the shelves to change it up for the new year.  All it took was some rearranging and a little spray paint.  I love when that happens!!  Now I have Winter shelves and a new look for our home.

Make it a marvelous Monday and change it up somewhere in your home to welcome in the new year!!

Epsom salt looks just like snow from a distance. I think it makes the perfect filler for jars for January decor. Your shelves look great filled with natural elements.
