Collections and Obsessions? Hmmm…What should I call them?
I prefer to call them collections, and if I am not careful it could be an obsession.
Let me tell you why. It all started when I first got married. My grandma thought every home needed a sugar bowl and a creamer. This was my first set.
Well, then I needed some cups in the same colors, right? Touches of pinks, mauve and gold trim are my fave.
It could be an obsession because EVERY-TIME I walk into a thrift store or consignment shop, I NEED to see if there are tea cups and saucers. They pull me in. Really, they do…
Sometimes there doesn’t even have to be a match for the saucer. See what I mean?
The tea cup in the front left was hand painted by the same grandma that gave me my first sugar bowl and creamer. I love the delicate flowers, don’t you?
When she received Desert Rose Franciscan Ware as a gift, she made tea cups to match.
But, she did not stop there. She also made tea bag saucers with tiny ceramic roses. Okay-are you seeing where I MIGHT have inherited this collection or obsession?
AND, yes she made salt and pepper shakers to match. I know! See how I come by this honestly?
I like using tea plates and/or saucers as home decor, too.
To see how I hang my tea saucers without plate hangers, visit My Plate Gallery Wall post. It is super easy and will amaze you.
I am also working on a dining room table top using thrifted plates and saucers. I actually have been working on it for awhile (UM, years…). I am hoping to have it done within the next 2 weeks. I hope you come back then to see my work.
Collections and Obsessions??? What do YOU think? In my mind, I use them because I am trying to create a cottage feel in my desert condo in Las Vegas. It works for me. And, I love each and every piece.
So, let’s have more fun and visit my friends collections and design ideas, below. They each are incredibly talented and so you will enjoy every one.
Thanks for joining me today as I share my Collections and Obsessions. Make it a collecting kind of day!

Your collection is so pretty, Meegan. And I definitely see how you inherited it. Your grandma had excellent taste and an affinity for beautiful things. Thanks for sharing.

How lovely Meegan! I didn’t show all my plates and bowls collections because I thought it was too much. Dang, I should have shown all my collection now. LOL, Lovely pieces and can’t wait to see the table you are working on.

I cannot believe your grandmother made those beautiful salt and pepper shakers (as well as all the other beautiful things)! She was one talented lady, and yes, I can see how you got your obsession. I also love tea cups — I love all dishes actually. I could buy new dishes every time I see them, but the hubs wouldn’t be too excited about that. I have to curb my enthusiasm but I sneak a few new ones in here and there! lol I LOVE your collection and I’m so glad we did this tour — it’s fun! :)
