Book Page Wreath-A Follower’s Request

I am sure you have seen many book page wreaths around blog land.   I think they look very classy and creative.

I actually posted this when I first started my blog 9 months ago.  One of my followers emailed me and asked if I would post this again. Since she can’t see it on my old blog, I told her I would post it.  Here you go Mona… Enjoy!

I think it’s is perfect for Fall decorating.

Can you believe this cost about $2 or less to make?

Jen’s Refreshed Kitchen

September 18, 2012 By Meegan 13 Comments

First of all let me say again, how excited I am to be here!!  I am grateful to have had one of my sponsors Joel Jones Furniture help to have a WordPress.com

They saw I was having problems over at blogger and came to the rescue!!  Thanks Joel Jones Furniture!!

I will be adjusting and moving things around here for the next week or so-PLEASE be patient with me :)

Okay, so here we go…My friend Jen and her family which includes her hubby and 4 sons moved into a ‘new’ home a few years ago.  It has been fun for her to see what she likes and pull it all together.  She contacted me and asked if I would help-this meant spending time with a good friend, shopping and lunch!!  Of course I would go!!

Jen sent me various pictures and ideas she liked, and we went from there.  Jen definitely likes vessels.  Vessels of any kind-bowls, vases, urns, lanterns, etc..

We shopped for a full day.  We went to Home Goods,  & Ross.  Cafe Rio was for dinner-I mean really-who could resist that!!  Then while away on a trip Jen found more goodies at Ikea.  Score!!

This is our pallet above the stove.  Jen had just recently painted her cabinets white after being a red oak stain.   And with the neutral walls we could bring in the colors and accessories she liked most.
This is her other pallet above the refrigerator.    Beautiful home.  Now just to add a few things we purchased and some things Jen already owns.  We basically said we were playing because it was so fun!
Theses are a few of the various items Jen had and/or purchased.  LOVE!!
More fun things to “play” with.  The 2 milk bottle and basket were a great find at Home Goods for $7 for all three together!!  How awesome!!
And, a few more… LOVE the coral jug from Ikea!
Here we go…  We worked around with colors, textures, size and height.  The cabinets are recessed, so we added books for better height and visibility.  Jen fell in love with the coral canister from Ikea.  They came in a set of 2 for $12-not too shabby!!
Most everything else in this picture, she already had around her home.  She gave me free reign to use anything I thought would work.
She had the old trunk which worked perfectly, because everything was either round or some type of vessel.  This trunk added variety to the eye.  Don’t you just love the “bowl”.  It was a Home Goods Find.  It was my fave because it had most every color Jen was hoping to incorporate in her kitchen.  The aqua vessel was a Ross find.  Gotta love Ross.
This is a good look at what we ended up with above and around the stove.  As you can see there is an iron scroll above the stove that Jen’s hubby hung after I left.  (You can tell we are ready for him because of the tool box on the stove.)

And here are the cabinets above the refrigerator.  Don’t you just love all the textures and shapes?  The plate was purchased at Pier 1 a few yrs ago.  I really like the sphere on the left.

Jen purchased these jars before she contacted me and was going a different route and look with her kitchen.  Once above the cabinets were set we wondered what we could do with the large jars-we talked about filling them with chess pieces because her hubby loves chess, we also talked about filling them with spools of and different types of string.  But, then DUH!!  We thought to bring a warm home feeling, Jen would fill them with flour, sugar and brown sugar.  Perfect for this tiny window space and what Jen was hoping for.

Okay, I have to say when Jen and I both saw this, we almost ran to it.  It called our names!  Really, it did!  Jen wanted something a little crazy, and a great pop of aqua.  This was it.  We placed her on an easel and she was now home!!  Great idea for the other tiny kitchen window!!

Once all was said and done-it looked great and really felt like a different kitchen and a nice place for Jen to enjoy making meals for her family.

Her real inspiration were the Ikea coral jugs.  Jen went out that day and purchased paint in that exact color to paint her pantry door!!  How fun is that??

I will back over at Jen’s in a few weeks.  Once we started looking around, we realized we could also switch her living room and family room furniture around!!  I can’t wait to share the transformation with you!

Thanks Jen for letting me “play”.  It was great fun with a great friend!!

I hope you all will be inspired by today’s post.  It is easy to make changes without spending a lot of money.

Thanks for following me!  Be sure to stop by Pinterest, Hometalk, and be sure to add meeganmakes.com to your Bloglovin’ Roll.
