DIY Chippy Thrifted Shutter

April 13, 2016 By Meegan 2 Comments

You know I love thrifting, right? Well how could I resist this $5 Shutter?  Since then I have been working on this DIY Chippy Thrifted Shutter. With a little paint, paint stripper, and sandpaper, I got the exact look I was hoping for:  Old, worn, and chippy.

I started out with this pretty, new shutter:

Thrifted Shutter Refresh

It is just right for what I need. Don’t you love that the hardware is still attached?

Glittery Christmas Wreath from an Embroidery Hoop

November 13, 2020 By Meegan 21 Comments

I am going to create a Glittery Christmas Wreath from an Embroidery Hoop to add to my tablescape this year. I love the glitter and the unique style. And using an embroidery hoop, it couldn’t be easier.

Before the tutorial, I wanted to let you know that every 2nd Friday of the month Julie from Redhead Can Decorate hosts and organizes The Thrifty Style Team. This month is the Christmas Edition.

Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival

October 17, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Hello and Happy Friday!  I am sorry my post is up a little late today.  I had one of my less effective days yesterday.  The definition of that means: I had a seizure last night.  I am okay, but need to lay low at least for the next 24 hours or more.  It’s ALL good.  I am fine, just s-l-o-w…

BUT, I am excited to tell you about Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival!

I was contacted by a local bloggers to visit the Fall Harvest Festival.  I could hardly wait to see what it was all about.

Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival

The Fall Harvest Festival is at Floyd Lamb Park in Las Vegas.

The hours are:

Weekdays: 2p.m.-5p.m.

Weekends: 10 a.m.-5p.m.

Floyd Lamb Park has beautiful scenery, complete with birds, ducks and geese beside the lake.

You will get to select your own pumpkins right from a home grown pumpkin patch.

There are a least half a dozen peacocks grazing the area.  (Don’t you LOVE their colors?)

Hayrides and Horses: There are a variety of horses to get you around (Belgian & Percheron horses)

My gorgeous view on the hayride.

During the weekdays, the hayride is ideal for the little ones.  There are a few large spiders and grave yards to spot. Then on e the weekends, it gets a little scarier with zombies wondering through your hayride path.

Petting Zoo: You have around 20 animals to explore (donkeys, goats, llama’s and more!)

The corn maze is really fun for everyone, as well.  There are also a large variety of pumpkins to choose from as you find your way to the end.

Over all, it is a great way to spend family time on a Fall afternoon.  For prices and contact numbers visit: https://doubletreecarriage.com/harvest-festival/  Ask for Barbara to help you.  She is SO nice and informative.  Steve will give you a great tour and show you the rescued animals in the petting zoo.

I hope you have enjoyed Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival.

It was a fun trip.
