On my apartment cottage back porch, I have a storage room. And I love to decorate it for each season. This time of year it is fun to hang the Spring Vintage Bicycle Rim Wreath.
My neighbors love it and I get several compliments a week.
The vintage bicycle rim has been used several times as a wreath for different holidays and occasions. It’s going to be fun sharing the tutorial with you as part of the Thrifty Style Team today.
Julie from Redhead Can Decorate has organized the monthly Thrifty Style Team. Every 2nd Friday of the month a group of talented bloggers share the BEST thrifty ideas. I will link all the blogs participating at the end of this post.
Let’s get started with your own Spring Vintage Bicycle Rim Wreath.
What you will need:
vintage bicycle rim
5-seed packets
5-clothes pins
1-10 inch lavender wreath
1-5×7 canvas, with a picture or quote of your choice (I found mine at WinCo)
cotton string
scissors
thin wire
hot glue gun
hot glue sticks
Start by hanging 5 seed packets on the bicycle rim with colorful clothes pins. I painted mine with craft paint. This isn’t necessary, but a fun look for Spring.
To hang the canvas to the lavender wreath-I tied a 5″ piece of string into a loop and attached it to the back of the canvas with hot glue. (as seen below)
Hobby Lobby has stunning 10″ faux lavender wreaths. This is ideal size for this bicycle rim wreath.
To be able to hang the canvas on the wreath I pulled the “lavender and leaves” off of ONE of the stems.
Now the string loop will easily slip right onto the stem. Once the canvas was attached, I was ready to hang it on the rim.
With 4 pieces of 5″ strips of thin wire, I carefully attached the lavender wreath to the bicycle rim in four places. This helps keep the lavender wreath secure and centered on the rim.
I think the quote, “Happiness Blooms From Within” is ideal for a Spring garden wreath, don’t you?
The Spring Vintage Bicycle Rim Wreath looks so pretty and unique from every angle on my apartment cottage back porch.
I am excited to hear about your own Vintage Bicycle Rim Wreath for Spring.

This is absolutely adorable Meegan! I’ve got a couple of bike rims I could do this with, but love your rusty one better than my chrome ones; maybe I should paint them. Love the idea of hanging a wreath on the center of the spokes; great industrial combo. Thanks for the idea! Pinned to my wreath ideas board!
