Well, here we are. Already in November and the Christmas ideas are popping out around the apartment cottage. So far, my Vintage Bicycle Rim Christmas Wreath is my favorite new decoration. AND has me excited for more Christmas creativity.
You know how much I like vintage, thrifted and rustic pieces. And what better way to make a wreath other than a rusty bicycle rim…
If you remember, I used this same bicycle rim for my Summer back porch.
After removing the seed packets, I was on my way to creating something fresh and new.
When you are making your own Vintage Bicycle Rim Christmas Wreath, you definitely could use a new, shiny rim. It’s all about YOUR taste and creativity. That is part of the fun, right?
I have also seen bike rims at most thrift stores and vintage shops. So, that shouldn’t be too hard to find.
What you will need:
1 New or Vintage bicycle rim
Your choice of SEVEN Christmas picks
While adding the Christmas picks and reindeer ornament and wreath, I left the bicycle rim hanging on the door. This way I could get a real perspective of how the wreath would look as I worked.
I attached everything with gauged wire. Nothing is permanent, then I can decorate the rusty rim for any season or event.
My first choice was to add various picks on the left side. I wanted to make it a little bulky and hefty. Then that way it would be balanced enough to hang the reindeer ornament. It did take me a little bit to get the reindeer level. But, once it was done, I loved the look.
Before I even started on this project, I KNEW that this crystallized wreath would look perfect as a center of this Christmas wreath. When attaching the wreath, I used wire in 3 different areas. This eliminates any slippage or falling off.
On the right upper side, I wired just one pine/berry and one crystal branch. I didn’t want it to be as hefty as the left. Just for an uneven look.
The finished look has me smiling from ear to ear.
Adding fairy lights seemed to be the icing on the cake. Love it.
If YOU were making a Vintage Bicycle Rim Christmas Wreath, what would you add or take away? I would love to hear all about it.
