Vintage Silverware in a Barnwood Box

April 6, 2015 By Meegan 6 Comments

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope your Easter Sunday was filled with lots of family, food, Easter egg hunts and lots of love.  We spent the day with some of the grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.  It was really precious.

I am happy to have you stop by today for another version of The Monday Blues.  Today I have the Monday Blues for Vintage Silverware in a Barnwood Box.

I've Got The Monday Blues1

I know, it makes my heart skip a beat, too.

I am blessed to have several barnwood boxes from a wedding I did the flowers for in Sept 2012.

Now I use them around my home.  Today I want to show you my GREAT-Grandparents REAL Vintage Silverware in a Barnwood Box.

I love the look of vintage silverware.Vintage Silverware Collection

And to have it in my home is a real treat.

Vintage Silverware Set

Vintage Spoons

I started off with a barnwood box measuring 7×10 inches.  I also gathered 3 jars I have here in my home.  I might be known as a little bit of a jar “hoarder”.  If they have a unique size or shape I must keep them for possible uses later. (Well, you never know, right???)

Vintage Butter Knife and Sugar Spoon

Then I decided which pieces I wanted to use.  I just love the patina on the silverware.  I am crushing on the butter knife and sugar spoon, aren’t you?

Vintage Butter Knives

Using a pickle jar as a vessel to hold the knives was a little tricky, as the knives are heavy.  You want to choose a jar that won’t tip over.

Vintage Forks

For the forks I used a short vintage canning jar that has a glass lid.  I removed the lid, so the jar would fit in the barnwood box.

Vintage Spoons

The spoons are housed in a vintage jelly jar.  You can see the worn edges and cloudy glass.

I just love the patina on the silverware.  I also like the fact that the patterns on the silverware don’t match.  I am crushing on the butter knife and sugar spoon, aren’t you?

I actually wish the silverware could talk.  You know, so I could find out where it was made, where it was purchased, was it a wedding gift?  Where has it traveled?  I think each vintage piece has a story to tell.  No matter what it is.

Vintage Silverware in a Barnwood Box is one of my favorite displays in our home. Sometimes it is in our kitchen, others times I have it on our thrifted buffet.

It makes a great conversation piece as well.

Thanks for joining me as I am excited to show you my Vintage Silverware in a Barnwood Box.

Make it a blue Monday filled with vintage silverware…
