My month of October has been filled with my own Fall Decorating and Recipes. I have everything from grocery store flowers, thrifty ideas to my own thoughts about life after fifty and over.
where vintage and thrifted meet cottage living
Last year, around this time, I wrote a similar post. It is fascinating to go back and read my thoughts. Even though it was just a year ago. My perspective has changed, matured and I have much clearer view of what I want my life to be.

Two years ago, my husband had an emergency quadruple by-pass. This was both scary and eye opening for both of us. You see, he has been active for years, not only as a championship high school referee, but also as a bicyclist.

At Grandma and Grandpa’s house on Christmas Eve, our imaginations would go wild. As we sat by the Christmas tree with twinkling lights and the train going around and around the tree. The train whistle would blow and some how smoke would blow out of the stack.
It was magical and wondrous. Grandpa would play Christmas carols on the piano, the turkey was cooking in the oven and the rolls were rising on the counter.
The vintage pieces that I am drawn to are chippy, worn and colorful. Everything from colorful to faded and torn with some glitter thrown it there too.

I just love flowers of any kind, color and species. This time of year I like corals and whites of any shade.
For me, I look at it like 50 is the new 30. And 60 is the new 40. Even though I am older than 50, I am capable of doing pretty much everything I did when I was that age. Probably even better, now.
Today I am excited to share a family memory with you. When I was young every Sunday my family would visit my grandparents. AND, we always enjoyed Tea with Dessert-A Family Tradition.
As I got older with a family of my own, the Sunday tradition changed. My grandparents and my mom would go out to dinner and then come to visit our family of four. We would have dessert every Sunday with them. My grandma would bake a cake or my mom would bring cookie and ice cream.
