Last year I decorated the Christmas tree in blue, silver and white. To add a little more blue and sparkle to the tree this year, I designed Handmade Bead and Crystal Christmas Ornaments.
It was fun to shop for the beads and create a tutorial for YOU and then you could make your own handmade bead and crystal ornaments, as well.
Today, I am excited to be a part of the International Bloggers Club. The 3rd Monday of each month, we get together and create a themed craft, DIY project, home decor piece, or Holiday decoration. This month’s theme is: “Beads Galore”. The club includes bloggers from all over the globe. From South Africa, to Australia, Spain, Canada, and the U.S.
Each month it is exciting to see everyone’s interpretation of the theme. This month is no exception. All of the pictures and links will be listed at the end of this post. You most definitely will be blown away at the ingenuity and imagination!
What you will need to make Handmade Bead and Crystal Christmas Ornaments:
I love blue, if you didn’t know that already. The various sizes and shades of blue will be a beautiful addition on the Christmas tree this year.
Using 24 gauge wire is pliable enough to twist, bend and manipulate into the shapes needed.
With the wire snips- cut various lengths of wire. For the ones that I made, I cut a few of each 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch lengths. Of course, you can obviously cut yours all the same length. It’s your own preference.
Start by threading the wire through the bead (or crystal). This will be the bottom of your ornament. Be sure to leave at least 2-2 1/2 inches of wire to pull through and twist around the rest of the wire strand. I hope that makes sense. If you look at picture above it should help you see what I mean.
To hide the twisted wire, carefully slide another bead over the wire to ensure it is actually inside the bead hole. As seen in the picture above.
Add as many beads and various sizes that you like. Creating different bead patterns gives a touch of whimsy.
If you decide to making each ornament the same, that will give more a cohesive look. What YOU like best, is THE best.
All done and ready for hanging on a Christmas tree or wreath.
They could be hung in clusters of two or three for the illusion of one large ornament.
Or hung singularly. Each Bead and crystal ornament has it’s own personality with a gorgeous glimmer and shine.
I can’t wait to hear about YOUR own color and creation choices!
In just a few steps you can learn how to make one of a kind handmade bead and crystal Christmas ornaments. Each one is stunning on any style tree or wreath.

These are gorgeous Meegan! I love the combo of blue, silver and white! Will you change it up this year at all or keep the same colour theme?

Oh my, how lovely, Meegan. It makes the wreath look like it’s dripping in with jewels. I can just imagine all those sparkly bits when the lights reflect through them.

Your crystal ornaments are beautiful, Meegan! I spent a small fortune buying a set last year for our tree and now I’m regretting that decision. Thanks to your tutorial, maybe I’ll make another set for a fraction of the cost. Thanks for the inspiration!

They are very pretty meegan. I love the large crystals at the bottom they must reflect the light and look stunning. The blue you chose is stunning too. I think the colour combination is perfect.
