DIY Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies Organization

December 12, 2018 By Meegan 3 Comments

Now that our home is decorated for Christmas, it’s time to start wrapping gifts. To keep my home in order, I have created my own DIY Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies Organization.

With a few craft supplies, I am able to hide my wrapping supplies in “plain sight”.

I am always looking for my paper scissors and the tape. My ribbon is always tucked away in a grocery bag. So with just a little creativity, I now have my DIY Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies Organization. AND, it’s pretty, too.

This is my contribution to the Thrifty Style Team this month. A talented group of bloggers share their thrifty home décor or craft ideas every 2nd Wednesday of the month. It is always fun and inspiring to see what everyone comes up with. Their blog posts will be linked below.

I found a set of three paper mache’ houses at Hobby Lobby. I thought they fit perfectly in my Christmas Cottage style decorating.

This is how I turned them into helping me organize my Christmas gift wrapping supplies…

I used:

Paper mache’ houses (the roof of each house lifts off, as a lid)

Mod Podge

white craft paint

1 sponge brush

Diamond Dust glitter

The first step was to paint the “house” with white craft paint and a sponge brush. If you prefer, you can use spray paint, instead.

Once the paint was completely dry, I used the same sponge brush to spread a thin layer of Mod Podge on sections of the house and roof.

I did the Mod Podge in sections, so I could have a dry area to hold each piece while sprinkling the glitter on the wet Mod Podge.

*Paint and Mod Podge Tip* Use thin layers of paint and Mod Podge as not to saturate and warp the paper mache’ houses. Remember, they are paper, and will bend or tear easily when wet.

Once the paint, Mod Podge and glitter are dry, it was time to fill them.

The larger house is filled with my fabric ribbon.

The mid-sized has 2 pairs of scissors.

The smallest house holds my tape.

If you look closely, you can see my supplies. BUT, if you didn’t know, would you spot them?

When I showed my husband the cute Christmas cottages under our Christmas tree, he had NO idea that I had gift wrapping supplies hidden in them. YES!

I had succeeded in two ways.

1-My Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies are organized

2-It is a beautiful, fresh look under my Christmas tree.

I am also excited about the fact that when I am done using them that fit into each other, saving storage space when it’s time to pack Christmas away. I hope you have enjoyed my simple DIY Christmas Gift Wrapping Supplies Organization.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoy all of the other thrifty ideas created by my friends below.

Make it a great day!
