Sunless Tan Using Two Lotions Together

June 2, 2020 By Meegan 24 Comments

We are off to a niece’s wedding this weekend.  The whole family is really looking forward to it.  I will be wearing a dress that comes just above the knee. I haven’t been in the sun much this year.  So, I did some sunless tanning using two lotions together.

Yep, it is that easy.  And I have a beautiful, smooth, flawless tan without spending hours in the sun.

Using a nickle size of each lotion in my hand, I mix them together. Making sure that they are equal parts, 50/50 of each lotion.

Once they are mixed, I rub the lotion on my arms, legs and chest area.

Viola-tan!

Questions:

Does it smell?  A little, but not strong like other brands.

Why do these work together?  I have no idea.  But it is the best solution I have used in the past 10 years.

Does it leave a glittery glow?  Yes, it most certainly does. But, not too much. It’s just a lovely shimmer in the sunlight.

Can I use other depths of lotion-such as medium to dark?  I have no idea.  I don’t need to try it, this works great for me.

Do I need to be careful around elbows and knees, as to not leave deep coloring?  Yes, you do as you would any other tanning lotion.

Does it really work?  Absolutely, yes, I promise it does.  I keep these two lotions in my linen closet on hand all the time. I would show you my “tanned” legs, but they are not so young looking any more :)

Am I getting paid or compensated for this post?  Not at all.  This works, and I wanted to share it with you!  That’s it.

So, there you have it!  A Sunless Tan Using Two Lotions Together. And it could not be any easier!

I hope you try it and let me know what you think.

Make it a wonderful day.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been wondering about self tanning lotions. I’m fair, but I’m at the age that laying out in the sun is not my thing nor do I have time to do it. I’m going to try this. Thanks for info!! Have fun at the wedding!!

I’m so pasty white I have yet to find a tanning lotion that doesn’t look ridiculous. I’ll have to give these two a try.

Thanks so very much for sharing this “recipe” with us. I am going to my son’s wedding in less than two weeks and my legs are beyond pasty white. I usually still wear panty hose for nice occasions BUT most of the shoes I am looking at on the internet/contemplating wearing with my MOG dress are at least peep toe…panty hose look pathetic with peep toe shoes. I may have to get wild and crazy and use your formula and go “commando” on my legs for the wedding.

Did you use it on your face too?

I haven’t ever used it on my face. I read the directions from both bottles and they each say apply evenly all over your body as you would a lotion. I don’t know that I would use it on my face. It’s up to you. Good luck, and thanks for asking!
      Come back again soon…

Hi Gals, I use this too, and it’s the best by far for a natural looking tan, better than one or the other. Also, for my face, which now has a lot of sun damage from years of being ignorant, I use Clinique’s self tanning face lotion mixed with equal parts of their daytime moisture. natural, even, and doesn’t add to wrinkles!

I gave up on these a couple years ago because I couldn’t find the right one. I’m going to try it! I am very fair, so I need this bad. Thanks for the tip!

I’m up North visiting my parents and with the 40 degree weather I could use some sun and a tan. I’m glad mixing the two lotions worked so well for you, Meegan! Thanks for sharing at Throwback Thursday.

This sounds really good, however I’ve tried a number of self-tanners and my skin always turns orange. Do you think this combination of lotions will make my skin do that? thanks

      Gerri,
I have been using this method for several years now, and I have never had my skin turn orange. I attribute it to the fact that both lotions mixed together prevent that. I hope you try it soon. Thanks so much for stopping by!

I tried this and they are great together. The first time I tried it I mixed them together in my hand before applying and it came out streaky. Now I put the L’Oreal Sublime on all over first and then go back and apply the Banana Boat. I wake up the next morning, and voila! Tan!

Hi everyone, does this self tanning lotion leave orange residue on your sheets/clothes? When is the best time of day to apply this? I was thinking it might be best to put it on as soon as I wake up and then allow it to work its magic before I take a shower at night.. Would that work? Or would it just stain my clothes too?

      Hi Shauna.
Thank you for asking. I follow the directions on the bottles. I like using the two lotions right after I get out of the shower. Let them dry and then get dressed. I have never had my sheets or clothes stained.
      Have fun and good luck.
