Barnwood Box Christmas Ideas

As the temps are cooling down and the sun is setting earlier, it is inevitable that I need to start on my Christmas gifts and decorating. Today, I am going to share one of my Barnwood Box Christmas Ideas.

I was lucky enough to do the wedding flowers for a good friend of mine. Her reception was a rustic style with barnwood, fresh flowers, burlap and mason jars. It was lovely.  You can see a few of the pictures here.
The Barnwood used to make the boxes was from the Groom’s grandpa’s barn. And, the boxes were each created by the groom. So there is some sentimental value in each box. (I love when that happens. I am a sentimental kinda gal.)

When the reception was over, the Bride willingly gave me some of the barnwood boxes. To say I was excited was an understatement.

I have used the barnwood boxes for our own son’s wedding, as organizers, for styling my vintage mason jars and now for my Barnwood Box Christmas Ideas.

This is what I used:

several pine and berry picks

icicle picks

3 gold pine cones (which I spray painted and also used here)

3 inch candles

3 EMPTY soup cans (to raise up the candles to be tall enough to be above the Barnwood box)

1-2 foot strand of battery operated fairy lights

I first placed the soup cans in the barnwood box. Next, I stacked the pine cones in a corner of the box. I carefully set the pine picks in-between the cans.

Adding the icicle picks was the next step. I set them next to the pine picks and the berries, on each end.

The next step was to loosely place the fairly lights in and through all of the elements-hiding the battery box inside the Barnwood box, for easy access.

And of course,  the candles were added last.

I love the rustic look for my Barnwood Box Christmas Ideas.

Please keep in mind to watch your lit candles. I would suggest to use battery operated candles.
