Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

August 16, 2013 By Meegan 6 Comments

I just love a good field trip, don’t you??  Today I am taking you on a thrift finds field trip.  Yep, today is Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds!  Woo hoo!

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

Okay, let’s get going…

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

One thing I CAN NOT resist while thrifting are green or blue bottles.  I mean, how could I?  Look at them in all their gorgeousness.  The bottle on the top left has her own little feature at the end of this post…

The croquet box is quite incredible and was my grandfather’s.  I actually used the mallets from the box to play croquet with him when I was a child.

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

I found each on of these bottles at a thrift store within the last year and a half.  Without even trying, there they were staring me in the face.  Saying, “Buy me, buy me!”  How could I resist, especially since they were each a $1 or less, right?

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

Oh, and then the plates!  I just love pretty plates!  And if they have a cute tea cup with them, even better.

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

I just love the look of these on my coffee table.  They were each less than 75 cents.  AND, some were even a dime apiece!!  SCORE!

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

Need is my wooden tray.  Oh how I love this tray!  It sells at World Market for $24.99.  Yep, the price is still on the bottom.  What did I pay for it?  $3.  You read that right, $3.  LOVE IT!!

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

Did I need a tray?  Probably not.  BUT, how could I pass it up?  It pairs perfectly with my glass dome purchased at TJ Maxx on clearance for $8.  A glass dome is JUST what I needed, wouldn’t you say?

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

My tray also looks beautiful with my shell and coral collection.  Gotta love me a wooden tray with shells.

BUT, my best thrift find this past month was…

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

This amazing beautiful jar.  She is big, she is green and she was half off the day I stepped into the store.  See the $1.50 tag?  Well, it was half off of that!!

Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds

Here she is in all her glory!  Still wearing her tag, I might add .  Yes!!

Thanks for joining me for Field Trip Friday-My Thrift Finds.  I love having you here!  I hope you come back next week for a VERY special field trip from one of my new blogging friends.  Her name is Anne and she blogs over at: Design Dreams By Anne.  You will love, love her home tour!!

Field Trip Friday To Girls Camp

August 2, 2013 By Meegan Leave a Comment

I have a field trip Friday to Girls Camp for you today.  This was a fun and exciting trip to our church Girls Camp this year.  Not what we planned, but perfect for our girls.

Field Trip Friday to girls camp

We have been planning for months to camp in large tents, cook outside over a fire, sing, dance, laugh, and spend the week with over 200 people.

That changed very fast when the mountain we usually camp on caught on fire and burned for almost 3 weeks.  Very sad! Luckily our campground was saved.  But the smoke and fire was so thick everyone on the mountain was evacuated.  We had to quickly switch gears and plan a week for 32 people, cook all of our own meals inside, plan a hike, and all of our activities for 23 girls.

Our kind friend offered to let us use her cabin in Cedar City, UT.  It was the perfect size for our group.  And so very generous of her and her husband to let us stay there a few nights.  What a blessing.

Here are just a few pictures from our few days in the mountains of Cedar City:

Field Trip Friday to Girls campHeading up the mountain.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campBeautiful views along the way.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campOn our way out from hiking in Mammoth Cave these cows were blocking the dirt road.  The girls we were with don’t see this very often, since we live in the city.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campOur Bishop cooking in the rain right outside Mammoth Cave.  It rained every day we were there.  It was a refreshing treat after having the scorching heat at home.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campWe made decorations and gifts ahead of time to take up with us.  There were ready for our original camp, and worked out just fine with our group of girls.  We hung banners, ate candy, wore tutus and ate more candy.  In-between we had very healthy meals.  We even made my chicken nachos with all the toppings.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campAll of us leaders wore matching pink watches, cool, huh?

Field Trip Friday to Girls campUsing Individual Worth as our theme, we had each girl choose or think a talent or attribute they had or wanted.  We used the cardboard chalkboards I made, and using twine had them hanging all around our cabin as a reminder of their worth and value.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campWhen you are with girls, there is always nail polish!  We spent a few hours polishing fingers and toes.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campThis is my new sweet friend.  She and her sister were quiet and shy the whole week.  She wouldn’t even let me paint her nails!!  By the end, they wanted to ride in our car and were my buddies.  That’s what it’s all about.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campOur Bishop was kind enough, to let the girls polish and decorate his hands and hair!  It was a great bonding activity.

Field Trip Friday to Girls campEach girl made a “mailbox”.  Our theme was “Individual Worth” so each girl made their mailbox into a mirror.  Everyone had a secret sister and gave her small gifts, costing a dollar or less everyday.  It was more about the thought, not the money.

I have so many other pictures of these incredible girls giving service: they cooked, cleaned, washed, dishes, did small acts of kindness, loaded up the cars, unloaded the cars, carried in groceries, taught scripture lessons, and cared for each other.  Since I don’t have permission from their parents, I can’t post any pictures of the girls themselves..

They are amazing girls!  They went with the flow.  They enjoyed each other.  There never was any drama.  We were there to be inspired, to get to know each other better, and to learn.

I love Girls Camp.  It’s one of my fave Summer activities.  That’s my Field Trip Friday To Girls Camp for you today.

Join me every week when I can take you on:

Field Trip Friday to IKEA

July 27, 2013 By Meegan 4 Comments

[slideshow_deploy id=’4254′]

It’s late Friday night and I have Field Trip Friday to IKEA for you.  I am slow at getting this to you as we have a sister in the hospital, visiting family, and plain ole life.  I hope you all understand.

ANYWAY…Last week we were down in Cali for Hubby’s class reunion.  On the way there I spotted IKEA and knew I had to stop.  I have been looking for a new living room rug, and why not stop at IKEA when I had the chance, right?

These pictures are just a spec of the whole IKEA space.  But, it inspired me for our home.  Let’s get this Field Trip Friday to IKEA underway…

If you haven’t ever been to IKEA, there is SO MUCH MORE I could share, but this post would end up being at least 1 months worth of pictures and writing.

Field Trip Friday to IKEANeed some art pieces for your home?  I could have spent a few hours just in this area.

Field Trip Friday to IKEAOne of the many fave bedroom set ups I liked.

Field Trip Friday to IKEACan I have this sofa and chase please?  Oh, and everything else, too?  Even the wall look awesome!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAI really liked this entertainment center.  But, I especially liked the cocktail table.  Having a glass top, you can fill the real drawer with all of your favorite things.  Mine would be shells, book pages, sand, and more shells.

Field Trip Friday to IKEALOVED this blue sofa!  If someone bought this for me, I wouldn’t argue or even take it back.  I would make it work in my home.  (I know it’s messy-we got there just before they were closing, so I didn’t have time to stage it for you)

Field Trip Friday to IKEAYou will find room set ups all throughout the store.  This was one of my fave place settings.  Look at all the detail…goblets, candlesticks, plates, placemats, table runner, vase, flowers, mirror, no detail was missing.  So fun!  You can buy all of these accessories at IKEA!!  Crazy!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAAnother sofa I would love to have.  The tufting is making my heart melt.  Look beyond the sofa at ALL of the other set ups!  Really overwhelming and fun!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAMy 4 favorite bedrooms!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAMORE art!!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAEvery aisle looks like this, filled with goodies and accessories to fill your home!

Field Trip Friday to IKEAOh, and bedding, sheets, pillows, and anything else you might need to accessorize your living space.

If you haven’t ever been to IKEA, there is SO MUCH MORE I could share, but this post would end up being at least 1 months worth of pictures and writing.  There are also mountains of paper goods, bookcase, kitchen ideas, plants, pots and pans, platters, furniture, towel racks, rugs, candles, glasses, toys, cribs, lamps, lamp shades, etc…  Again, this is just a small fraction of what you might find.

No, I didn’t even get to the rug section.  The store closed and we had to leave.  Boo!  But I will be back again to share more of a Field Trip Friday to IKEA!

Thanks for joining me today.  Join me every Friday for:
