Field Trip Friday, Union Station Los Angeles

January 16, 2015 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Happy Friday!  It’s one of my favorite days of the week.  I am excited to share Field Trip Friday, Union Station Los Angeles today.  Hubby and I spent most of the week down in California.  We visited with his 89 year old dad and some of our grandkiddos.

While were were there we took a day trip to Union Station, Los Angeles and Olvera Street.

I was glad I had my camera for pictures of the grandkiddos. THEN when I saw the architecture of the building, I KNEW YOU needed to see it, too.

Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival

October 17, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Hello and Happy Friday!  I am sorry my post is up a little late today.  I had one of my less effective days yesterday.  The definition of that means: I had a seizure last night.  I am okay, but need to lay low at least for the next 24 hours or more.  It’s ALL good.  I am fine, just s-l-o-w…

BUT, I am excited to tell you about Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival!

I was contacted by a local bloggers to visit the Fall Harvest Festival.  I could hardly wait to see what it was all about.

Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival

The Fall Harvest Festival is at Floyd Lamb Park in Las Vegas.

The hours are:

Weekdays: 2p.m.-5p.m.

Weekends: 10 a.m.-5p.m.

Floyd Lamb Park has beautiful scenery, complete with birds, ducks and geese beside the lake.

You will get to select your own pumpkins right from a home grown pumpkin patch.

There are a least half a dozen peacocks grazing the area.  (Don’t you LOVE their colors?)

Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival

Hayrides and Horses: There are a variety of horses to get you around (Belgian & Percheron horses)

My gorgeous view on the hayride.

During the weekdays, the hayride is ideal for the little ones.  There are a few large spiders and grave yards to spot. Then on e the weekends, it gets a little scarier with zombies wondering through your hayride path.

Petting Zoo: You have around 20 animals to explore (donkeys, goats, llama’s and more!)

The corn maze is really fun for everyone, as well.  There are also a large variety of pumpkins to choose from as you find your way to the end.

Over all, it is a great way to spend family time on a Fall afternoon.  For prices and contact numbers visit: https://doubletreecarriage.com/harvest-festival/  Ask for Barbara to help you.  She is SO nice and informative.  Steve will give you a great tour and show you the rescued animals in the petting zoo.

I hope you have enjoyed Field Trip Friday Fall Harvest Festival.

It was a fun trip.

Now for some blogger fun!

Field Trip Friday with Dear Emmeline

October 10, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

It’s Friday!  And you know what that means, right?

Yep, It’s Field Trip Friday with Dear Emmeline.  I have been following Jessica since her beginnings as a blogger.  I have always been pulled in by her decorative style, and accessory choices.  You could say I want to be her when I grow up.  Now sit back and enjoy Field Trip Friday with Dear Emmeline.

Hello!  My name is Jessica and I’m the writer behind the DIY and lifestyle blog Dear Emmeline.

When Meegan asked if she could bring her readers on a field trip to my blog I of course said yes!
I began my blog near the end of 2011 as a creative outlet after my second child was born.  By the beginning of 2012 I started refinishing furniture and selling it online in local Facebook groups and Craigslist. Eventually, I made a few local connections and began consigning my furniture out of a local barn sale.  When the barn was taken over by Cassie of Primitive and Proper and Sarah aka The Thriftress they graciously allowed me to continue consigning.
Some of my favorite furniture makeovers include this Cross Stitch Dresser, my son’s Woodland Dresser, and an Old Pickup Blue Dresser.
Gradually, I began adding in crafting, sewing, and DIY home decor projects.  Our Embroidery Hoop Pendant Fixture is a reader favorite.
In honor of fall, one of my personal favorites is an easy Faux Cornhusk Wreath.
As of late there hasn’t been a whole ton of small projects or furniture refinishing going on.  In February my husband and I bought a new home.  The main portion of the house was built in 1910 and was in need of major renovation.
We began our renovation journey the very night we closed on the house.  We furiously worked on the house during March and into April at which time my husband had some health issues and I was nearing the end of my third pregnancy.  After the baby was born and hubby was feeling better, we resumed work on the house and were able to move in just before school started at the end of August.

So far we’ve revealed a half bath and our full bath.

This month I plan to focus on finishing up the boys’ camp themed room.
We’re also in the process of waterproofing the dirt cellar and having central air and heat installed.
Once the heating system is in and we’re ready for the late fall and winter weather, I hope to add the finishing touches in the 2nd half bath and kitchen.
For now much of the house still feels like a blank slate but it’s been fun putting our stamp on the space little by little.  If you would like to follow along with our renovation progress, we will continue posting room reveals, DIY projects, and decor tutorials on the blog.

Thanks so much for hanging out with me today!

Stop over and visit anytime,

Jessica
Thank you from the bottom of my heart Jessica.  It has been an honor and a pleasure to have you here for Field Trip Friday with Dear Emmeline.  I know my readers have enjoyed your field trip as much as I have.
Make it a Field Trip Friday everyone!

Field Trip Friday with Leslie from House On The Way

September 26, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

It’s another great Friday and that means it is time for Field Trip Friday with Leslie from House On The Way.  You will enjoy her talent, creativity, home decor and much more.  Take it away Leslie…

Don’t you just love field trips?

When Meegan asked me to take part in her Field Trip Friday, I thought “Yay…a field trip I don’t have to chaperone!”

I’m Leslie and I blog at House on the Way, a home decor & design blog focused on making sure our house is on the way to a beautiful home.

I thought I’d tell you a bit about myself, my blog and a few of my favorite posts and projects.

First, you should know…my favorite color is red. I love it. It makes me happy and it makes me smile. You’ll find either a little or a lot throughout my home.

I would describe my style as eclectic. I love to mix the old with new. My love of antiques and vintage finds allows me to layer my home, creating a look that tells a story…the story of our life. As I walk through my home, I can find pieces that I’ve found at local flea markets as well as our travels overseas. Each piece is special in its own way.

I also have four children, which also means my home is always bustling. When my daughter graduated from high school, I created some DIY Photo Collage Letters for her graduation party. They turned out to be my most popular post ever. They make great party decor, but can also be a beautiful keepsake. I used the letters that spell her name and covered each letter with photos of her with family and friends. The photo collage letters took the place of the traditional photo board at the party.

Personally, one of my favorite projects is my Wood Swan Sign. I found a photo in a magazine of a set of beautiful swan signs and carried it around for at least a year. Finally, I created my version and it has become one of my favorite decorative pieces in my home.

When it comes to DIYs, I love to create fabric covered headboards. My most recent is my Pottery Barn inspired Fabric Covered Tufted Headboard for my master bedroom. My version is about $800 less than theirs!

I’m also a firm believer that a little spray paint can do miracles. Just take a peek at my DIY Painted Glass Dishes or my Red Dining Chairs.

Currently, I’m working on a powder room makeover. I’ve been stripping wallpaper, stenciling and adding a wood wall treatment. I can’t wait to show you more. As soon as it’s finished, I’ll be sure to share!

In the meantime, here’s a little of my new fall decor…
