Best of 2014-Day 1

December 22, 2014 By Meegan 2 Comments

Good Morning!  I am happily writing this post from my mom’s home in the hills of So. California.  We are here for the week to start our Christmas parties tonight.  My mom has a tradition of hosting all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandbabies for a fun night of food, white elephant gifts, games, and MORE food.  I can hardly wait!

BUT, right now I am sharing with you of MY Best of 2014-Day 1 .

Best of 2014 with What Meegan Makes

I hope you enjoy it as much today, as you did the first time I posted it.  It was featured on Shabby Art Boutique and French Country Cottage.  SO, I was MORE than pleased with it.
Happy Tuesday!!  And it’s time for me to share my thrifted Buffet Makeover!!  Woo Woo!!  I am seriously so excited to share my thrifted buffet with you on this lovely Tuesday.

You know how you are looking for something, and you KNOW exactly what it is, but you haven’t ever seen one before???  Well that is how this was for me.

I was at the thrift store crossing my fingers for a dresser type thing to hold some of my crafts.  My vintage cupboard holds the other crafts.  But, I have SO many, I needed another cupboard.

Okay, so back to the story…I was walking towards the back of the store and said to myself,”You can’t spend over $40 on a dresser.  That is WAY too much.  Be patient.”

Well low and behold, I spotted this buffet.  She was just the right size, measurements AND

just the right price!!  Five dollars UNDER what I wanted to pay.  I love when that happens, don’t you???

She has shelves and folding shutter doors, what more could I want, right???

Here is the before and after.  Oh my, I am crushing on this buffet.

I started out by painting her with a white primer.  Very sloppily, I might add.  I had a vision of having her freshly painted before Thanksgiving.

But REAL life took over, and I finally finished her on Monday.

I spotted these door pulls at Hobby Lobby the day after I brought her home.  They spoke to me.  And wanted to be on the buffet.  (Not really, but it fun to imagine)

Using Clark and Kensington Flat Ancient Gray, I began to choose where I would accent my buffet/craft cupboard.

I decided to accent the drawers, the shutter doors and the top.

And, yes, I painted right over the drawer handles with my paint brush.  Easy peasy.

While I was painting I remembered these other drawer pulls I bought over a year ago, hoping to find something to use them on.  Don’t they look great??

As I was painting, I liked the look of the sloppily painted primer.  So I left it as is.  It fits my taste and my style, so why change it, right??

Have YOU ever just left primer as a finished look???

The total cost for my Thrifted Buffet Makeover???  $35.  I had both the primer and the Ancient Gray already.  So I used what I had.

I was so excited for you to see the outcome.  I am glad you stopped by today for Best of 2014-Day 1.

Your comments and visits make me smile everyday.
