Two Sun Rooms Tour

January 24, 2013 By Meegan 6 Comments

Today I want to give you a “Two Sun Rooms Tour” from my own mom’s home.  I love her taste, style, and eclectic ideas.

Are you ready for the “Two Sun Rooms Tour”?  Well, here we go…

Two Sun Rooms Tour

Right off the kitchen you walk into the first sun room.  This home is set in the hills, but when you walk in this sun room, it feels like a beach home.  Love the elements in this corner that pull it all together.  The furniture, plants, bird-cages, baskets, etc…

Two Sun Rooms TourIn this corner is a table filled with treasures: sticks, old milk bottle, sea glass, branches, and shells.  The photos on the wall were taken on a trip we made a few years ago up the Northern Coast of California.

A little closer look at the treasures.  Gee, I wonder if I have similar taste to my mom??  (Said in a sarcastic voice)

Two Sun Rooms Tour

Oh my, look at this view!!  This room is the perfect temperature for having breakfast.  The color of the walls is so calming. Love the tile, too!!

Sun Rooms

This is the entry to the 2nd sun room.  She has had this vintage cabinet as long as I can remember.  She spray painted the natural basket for added color.

This bar is perfect for her sewing machine.  This room is warm all year-long as long as the sun is out.  She has a gorgeous view of the hills, and when the windows are open she can smell her Meyer lemon tree.

Two Sun Rooms Tour

I love the idea of a red table with  the lime green pot, the wood and rattan chairs.  Everything flows well with the white walls and the terracotta tile.

The room is complimented with the cedar wood planks and a ceiling fan.  There are 2  rattan chairs from Pier 1 with soft colored cushions.  This is where we visited.

We were both ready to fall asleep relaxing in the sun.  It was a wonderful visit with a fabulous woman!!

Of course, you know me-I asked if she wanted to paint the vintage cabinet or the bar.  She replied that she likes just the way they are.  If she likes it, then I do, too!!

Two sun rooms.  Two places to get cozy, have a meal, relax, sew, read a book, or even take a nap.  Do you have a place where you get cozy??

Thanks for stopping by today!!  It is always a treat for me to have you here!!

My Winter White Shelves

January 10, 2013 By Meegan 18 Comments

I am really loving my winter white shelves.  They look so cozy and welcoming.  To decorate them, I “shopped” around my house.  Do you ever go “shopping” in your home, too?  It’s so fun!!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I wanted to have a Winter White look.  Not stark white, but creams and whites combined.  It was easy to start with my creamy white shelves…

My Winter White Shelves

Shopping around the house is easy, fun and cheap.  I started out with my book page wreath as a base for the whole look.  I loved adding the pine cone garland to add some texture.  I like making it uneven for variety.

My Winter White Shelves

I am in love with this clock from our TV Room, because it is white(ish) and perfect for this look.

My Winter White Shelves

The top shelf  is shared by my cute angel (a gift from a dear friend), a tray full of 3 candles and pine cones (a gift from our daughter-she knows her Momma well), my cute plump bird, and the tiny urn.  I painted both the bird and the urn after I purchased them.  I couldn’t resist!!

My Winter White Shelves

The bottom shelf holds the clock, 3 candles (From our son’s wedding), a tea cup made by my grandma, and a simple white pot (from my sister-in-law).  I also added some dried hydrangeas to add an ever so tiny bit of color.

 My Winter White Shelves

This is my view if I turn around and look from my computer desk.  Pretty cool, huh?  White, Wintery, and I did it all by “shopping” right at home!!  No money spent and I had a great time putting it together!!  You can’t beat that, right??

If you like these winter white shelves, you might also like my winter book shelves in the living room, too!!

I am glad you stopped by today!  I love reading your comments and thoughts!  They really make me smile!!

Big Giveaway coming soon…
