There is Always Something To Be Thankful For

There is Always Something To Be Thankful For.  That is my mantra for the week.  I try to use it everyday of my life but, this week it was needed a little more.

This week has been one of the hardest weeks I have had in a long time.    My dad was admitted to the hospital with failing health.  I stayed every waking moment with him that I could.

He has kidney failure, heart failure, diabetes, bronchitis, and Parkinson’s.  It is a hard thing to watch someone you love suffer.  It does break your heart.

And, yet I know…

I KNOW this with ALL of my heart.
As I visited and sat with my failing Dad.  I was reminded of the blessing he has been in my life.  The wonderful grandpa he has been to our children and grand-babies.
The bags and bags of groceries he would buy, just because.  The Christmas mornings watching his face watch the kids open presents.  This was priceless.  The Thanksgiving dinners filled with turkey and Honey Baked Ham (his favorite).  The graduations attended, the soccer and football games, the choir concerts, beauty pageants, all with his excitement and glory reveling in his grandchildren.
That is what I am thankful for today.  I am grateful to have spent countless hours just sitting by his side.  Also, listening to each of our nearby children share their love of their Papa.  Words of love, that will forever warm my heart and soul.  Singing from a daughter that will be etched in my heart forever.  I have so much to be thankful for.
I hope and pray I never forget
There is Always Something To Be Thankful For.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.

I am so sorry about your father. It is so hard to lose a parent. Always remember that he loved you very much – he is in my prayers.

So sorry about your father. You are absolutely right as far as all you have said. The memories can not be bought with any amount of money. My father is 89 yrs old and I can’t imagine to be without him. My god give you strength.
