DIY Boho Spring Terracotta Pot

March 25, 2020 By Meegan 24 Comments

I have been wanting something fresh for my cottage apartment back porch. With my love of boho style, I created a DIY Boho Spring Terracotta Pot.

This is an ideal look for a Spring or Easter tablescape, as well. Don’t you think?

The Spring Ideas Tour is hosted by Paula from Virginia’s Sweat Pea.

I am excited to join 16 home decor bloggers with their gorgeous mantels, tasty recipes, lovely DIY projects and stunning porch ideas. This is a week long tour with something new everyday. I will have all the links at the end of this post for you to enjoy.

For today’s project I am delighted to share the tutorial for a DIY Boho Spring Terracotta Pot.

What you will need:

1-8 inch terracotta pot

1 oz homemade chalky paint (my recipe is here)

1 oz contrasting paint color, color of your choice

1 yard fringe

1 vintage pin or brooch

hot glue gun

hot glue sticks

My chalky paint ready to go.

I made an easy boho style pillow and had lace and fringe left over. I love the chunky texture, don’t you?

Painting the pot in french lilac was my first step. I gave it about 3 coats to achieve the color I liked best. You can do more or less to fit your own taste.

Having the rim in a contrasting color is just what I pictured. I used a color called eggshell white. I like how it’s almost the exact color as the fringe. You can do something totally different, if you like.

Now it was time to attach the fringe to the terracotta pot with hot glue. I did small sections at a time to ensure the fringe to adhere securely.

My fringe came “hemmed” together, so I unraveled it for a fluffy look and feel.

My collection of pins and brooches has grown over the years. When sifting through them, I came upon this pewter butterfly with amethyst gems. What a perfect Spring touch!

I could have hot glued it to the fringe. But in the end I thought it was best just to pin it. It was easy and then didn’t cause any damage to the pin itself.

I couldn’t be more pleased with my DIY Boho Spring Terracotta Pot. From the lilac homemade chalky paint, to the fringe and butterfly pin, it is ideal for a garden or tablescape.

Fill it with greenery or fresh flowers-it’s a unique and beautiful way to celebrate Spring or any season.

Thank you for joining me today!

Meegan, painting and embellishing flower pots is a favorite of mine and I really like what you did here. Using ribbon is a great idea and that butterfly is the perfect final touch.

Meegan, I just adore this flower pot makeover! I love the colors you chose to paint it – purple and green (and any variations thereof) are my favorite colors! I love the feminine fringe, and the amethyst butterfly is indeed the perfect finishing touch! So happy to be on tour with you this week!

I’m loving this boho vibe, Meegan! It reminds me of something from Anthropologie, especially with that gorgeous brooch. I never would’ve thought to add something like that, and it really ties everything together! Happy to be on this hop with you!

So pretty! I love it! AND I’m so glad you just pinned the pin on rather than gluing it. It’s such a gorgeous piece. Thanks for sharing!
