How To Reinforce Metal Shelving in A Rental Home

April 15, 2019 By Meegan 8 Comments

We are finally adjusting to living into our new home. We are so happy and it was a great move for us at the perfect time. It was a long time coming, and worth the wait.

While we started unpacking we realized right away that the shelving in our new place is relatively weak. So we worked through it and figured out How To Reinforce Metal Shelving in Any Home.

Let me show what we did To Reinforce Metal Shelving in Any Home without spending a lot of money or time…

Just in time for the At Home DIY Challenge for April.

My Talented blogging friends ave been busy with their projects and they will be linked at the bottom of this post.

Going to our local hardware store, we purchased Concrete/Stud Wall Clips for under $10. The original wall clips holding the shelves we just not long or strong enough to hold weight.

The shelves would sag or even bend because there weren’t enough clips in the middle to hold the extra weight.
Be sure to look for the strongest and longest concrete/stud wall clips available. This will ensure a sturdy and secure hold. Also make sure that the package label states: “attaches shelf to wall”.
These are the pieces included in the package. You will use one clip and one “anchor” for each screw.
The “anchors” look like this beforehand.
Once the screw is tightened into the anchor, the anchor opens with the width of the screw. Thus, making it so the wall clip is reinforced into the wall.
The first step To Reinforce the Metal Shelving in A Rental Home, drill a hole just above the shelf.
Screw the anchor into the drilled hole.
Then put the screw through the shelf clip and screw it into the anchor.  Lift the back metal shelving onto the concrete/stud wall clip.

Taking each of these steps and not trying to “cut corners” will help you learn How To Reinforce Metal Shelving in Any Home. I can guarantee that.

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you enjoy ALL of the At Home DIY Challenges, as well.
Make it a great day!

Good idea, Meegan! I need to look at our bedroom closet shelving as I know I’ve been piling the weight on as I unbox everything from our storage units. We finally got everything moved from California and into our new home!

Congratulations on your new place and I’m glad you are enjoying being there,
    Hugs,
    Barb :)

Great solution, it so important to know your shelves won’t come tumbling down on you after you pack them with belongings.
