Hello Hello! It’s Thursday, and I can’t believe how fast this past week has gone! I need some organization in every aspect of my life. Things can get a little out of control if you don’t have a desk. Yeah, we have a computer desk, but not a desk to organize bills, important papers, scissors, copy paper, etc… SO, I decided to have some Office Organization Without a Desk.
I bought a bookcase at Target for $20. I thought that would be a good place to start. With Hubby in school, he can keep his books here, his homework, assignments, and small momentos to make it an organized yet homey space.
While visiting my Mom last week, she had 2 of these desktop organize file kind of things. Hmmm…My mind was racing as to where I could put it. I could put it on the Thrifted Buffet. Nah, it would take too much space.
I could put it on the living room book case. No, that would look lame….
I could leave it here on our bar. Nope, too tall.
THEN, I remembered about the bookcase from Target. Yay!!
The first thing I did after I put it together was attach a blue scrapbook paper the the back of the bookcase. It added variety and detail. PLUS, you KNOW how much I like blue, right?
The bookcase was THE perfect spot for my new file! Hubby has the space he needs for his school work, books and necessities. IE; pens, paper, erasers, stapler, notebooks, and paper clips.
The file is functional and decorative. With shells, vintage Ball jars filled with vintage lace, a jar filled with sand. It now has a little more personality.
My Hubby is so fun. He finds cards, like birthday cards for our kids or his siblings and saves them for their special day. Now, he has them all in one place. He won’t have to remember where he put them. They are in a slot all of their own. (insert a big smile)
One the top shelf of the bookcase are some of Hubby’s life memorabilia. The football bank is from when he was a small boy. The small bail of cotton was purchased when he served as a missionary in Texas. AND, the plaque was awarded to him as Soccer Coach of the Year. (Yes, I am a proud wife)
The tray on the second shelf is a good “catch all” for extra staples, tape, pens, etc…
The bottom shelf holds cds, dvds, more notebooks, books and a jar filled with paper clips. AND of course my grandpa’s dictionary. I KNOW!! It was printed in 1946, but Hubby LOVES to use it. (he’s cute)
Above the bookcase and file is one of my chandys and an embroidered piece that my mom made when she was pregnant with me. How sweet is that?
Office Organization Without a Desk isn’t as hard as it sounds. And with our limited space, it works out perfectly.
We now have an office space without a desk. Everything is organized and has a specific home. No more searching through drawers and piles of papers. Yipee!!
The next question is: Should I paint the file/organizer thingy??? What do YOU think?
I am so happy to have you here today. I hope you can find that you can make Office Organization Without a Desk in your own home.
Make it a terrific Thursday, my friends!

Looks GREAT!, but I think you’re going to have to paint it.
