How to Decorate an Olive Bucket for Christmas

October 26, 2024 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Learn How to Decorate an Olive Bucket for Christmas with faux greens, berry picks and fairy lights. In just a few steps you will have a gorgeous vintage piece to welcome guests or a wonderful gift.

I am lucky enough that my husband knows me well. He was working at a furniture store when he spotted a REAL vintage olive bucket. The creative juices started flowing and I have used it several times in our cottage apartment.

This time I am using it as part of Christmas decor.

Let’s start with the simple components for decorating this vintage olive bucket.

For a display stand, I decided to use a thrifted chair that I painted red years ago.

Before any of the greenery, lay two strings of battery operated warm lights. With the switches close at hand to turn on and off, yet hidden.

Another great find is a vintage shutter that I found at an estate sale. Perfect with it’s chippy goodness…

Dried palm spears are the first green layer. Not necessarily a Christmas green. But add a soft texture and height.

For a touch of red and white flocking (and to match my Christmas tree this year), add a long pick of berries with green leaves. There is something very similar here.

Layer a flocked, glittery cedar pick like this.

And for my taste, I like to use eucalyptus when decorating during the Winter months. These particular picks have berries, which I really like. There are very similar picks here.

I love the lights glowing through the slits of the bucket. So festive and inviting for any home.

Such a nice additional accessory to set beside your Christmas tree, by your front door to welcome guests or a unique gift.

Because I tend to change the decor in this olive bucket throughout the year, you can tell I didn’t use styrofoam or any other stabilizer to secure the picks in. Each pick was tall enough, to stay in its place. BUT, you can make this however YOU want. Use colors, leaves, greens that YOU like. Afterall, it’s for YOU. This is just an idea to give you inspiration to get your creative juices flowing.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see How to Decorate an Olive Bucket for Christmas. I hope you enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Make it a wonderful day.
