July 9, 2021 By Meegan 33 Comments

The whole idea behind doing a project like this is to share how YOU make something unexpected from a purchase at Lowe’s. Like How To Make a Flower Basket from a Spice Rack.

How To Make a Flower Basket From A Spice Rack

My Goal today is to show you How To Make a Flower Basket from a Spice Rack. Sounds crazy, right? Now you will see why it is one of my fave projects…

It’s always fun to work with Julie from Redhead Can Decorate. Not only does she organize the Thrifty Style Team, but runs a lovely blog of her own.

If you didn’t know, the Thrifty Style Team is a group of talented bloggers that share their amazing ideas every 2nd Friday of the month. I am blessed to be a part of the group. And will be sharing ALL of their fabulous links at the bottom of this post.

I started out by browsing the aisles at Lowe’s. It’s always fun, isn’t it?

Spice Rack

After walking around through the nursery area, I kept thinking about how I wish I had a space for a garden on our balcony or front porch. I looked at a few ideas, and then it hit me. I could make my OWN container for my OWN little garden.

To make my project, I used:

spice rack/organizer

a spool of jute

hot glue gun

hot glue

scissors

fresh potted flowers

Spice Rack wrapped with Jute

I started out by wrapping the jute around the “frame” and rims of the rack.

Spice Rack Woven With Jute

My next step was to weave the jute in and out of the wired front. Easy, right? It did take awhile. And sometimes I would need to tie and hot glue the jute together, because I didn’t want to unravel.

Spice Rack Woven with Jute for Flowers

Wow, what a difference, right? As a hanger, I tied a one last string of jute to each side at the top.

Floral Basket Made From A Spice Rack

Now, the fun begins. Adding the flowers…

As a final touch, I added a tiny chalkboard sign.

Can you believe this use to be a spice rack/organizer? NOW, I  can have a small container garden on our front porch all year long.

Can you see why this was such a fave project of mine? How To Make a Flower Basket from a Spice Rack couldn’t be any easier, could it? I think I need to make another one for the balcony door, don’t you?

Wouldn’t it look fabulous as Autumn Decor, as well?

Where would YOU put YOUR DIY Flower Basket from a Spice Rack? I am excited to see what you come up with.
