Learn How To Decorate Pumpkins with Vintage Doilies and glass drawer pulls and it could not be easier. A fun fact about these darling, vintage style pumpkins is they have been featured in the most recent issue of Country Sampler Magazine.
My blogging friend, Leen from Sand Dollar Lane is hosting a fun “Pumpkin” Blog Hop with several bloggers today and I am excited to be a part of it.

Let’s get started with this fun tutorial on How To Decorate Pumpkins with Vintage Doilies.
What you will need:
faux pumpkins
vintage doilies in all sizes
glass drawer pulls
pearl floral pins
If you want you can use E6000 or hot glue to adhere the doilies, but it isn’t necessary.
Start with any size faux pumpkins you have or like. For convenience, I pulled out all of the stems. This allows for the drawer pull to fit in the pumpkin. More on that later…
Find a wide selection of pumpkin colors and sizes here.
Also, you can see that I painted some of mine to match my home decor. That’s the fun thing about this project. It’s all about what YOU like.
Being so lucky, I have a wide selection of vintage doilies. Most were made by my grandma and her mom, my great-grandmother. I have used them all around my home for years. I love the delicate stitches and imagine the stories the doilies could tell. You can read about my other doily crafts here and here.
When I visit Anthropologie and Hobby Lobby the displays of drawer pulls and door knobs call my name! These are a couple that caught my eye and they are just the right size for the pumpkins. Find a wide variety of glass drawer pulls here.
Floral pins are an added look. They are so pretty with the pearls, aren’t they? I have them on hand for making corsages and boutonnieres. You will find a great deal on pearl floral pins.
Now that you have your components, this process couldn’t be more easy.
Simply lay your vintage doily on top of the pumpkin. At this point you can adhere the doily to the pumpkin with E6000 or hot glue. As I said earlier, it really isn’t necessary, but it’s your choice.
Next is to insert the drawer pull or door knob into the already made hole from where the stem had been. Push it down as far as it looks good to you.
As you can see, I push the knob in about 2 inches. This will keep it secure. Doesn’t it look lovely?
To use the pearl floral pins, you will use the same steps.
But, instead of using just one pin, you can add as many as you like at various levels to make a “stem” of sorts. This is my husband’s favorite.
Tie vintage lace around the drawer pull for added accessories and just have fun.
On my book page pumpkin, I even sat a real pumpkin stem on top of the doily for variety.
Collectively they make a beautiful and unique vignette. Pretty enough for a Fall or Thanksgiving tablescape. Or even though Christmas with all the sparkle for the glass knobs.
