While I was in Oregon, my daughter and I did lots of traveling, crafting, shopping, thrifting, antiquing, eating, and laughing. We had so much fun! She has a lot of DIY projects in her home. They are all very impressive.
I fell in love with these DIY refrigerator magnets using vintage brooches and pins.
Don’t you just love these magnets? They would beautify any refrigerator or magnet board.
She started off by using broken rings, vintage brooches, and pins. She found most of these at estate sales, antique shops, or thrift stores. I really like the variety, don’t you?
Then with a simple magnet purchased at the hardware store or on Amazon. She hot glued each brooch or pin to a magnet. Yep, it is that simple!
What brooches, rings or pins do you have to beautify your refrigerator or magnet board? Such a fun idea for an office, classroom craft room or as a unique gift.
I hope you will make some of your own DIY refrigerator magnets using vintage brooches and pins soon. I would love to see pictures of what you can come up with.
I hope you have been inspired to create timeless ideas for your home.
Thank you for stopping by today.
Make it a wonderful day!

Another fun craft is learning How To Decoupage a Book Spine. It takes 3 or 4 matching scrap book papers, mod podge, scissors and a ruler.
Probably one of my favorite home decor ideas is Decorating a Vintage Typewriter with Succulents and Moss. Using my mom’s high school typewriter and faux succulents, this is an ideal vignette for Spring or Summer.
It’s never too early to plan for Christmas baking. Especially when you are baking Peppermint Snowball Cookies from Scratch.

Such a lovely idea. Just to find some at a yard sale or thrift shop. I don’t want to use my grandma’s. It would definitely dress up the fridge ;)

What a great idea! I’m planning on buying rare earth magnets and e6000 glue soon for a magnet project. My boyfriend has some cool beer bottle caps I want to convert into magnets for the fridge.

What fun magnets! They remind me of a huge box of costume jewelry I was given when my great-grandmother passed away. I loved to play dress up in it, but now I wonder if the pieces would have been better served in craft projects!
Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Hi Megan!
I found your blog via Life As A Thrifter. I just so happen to have some broken costume rings that I can use. I LOVE this idea. Now I know what to do when I hit the local antique shop.
Also, if I wanted to use the brooches or the rings as hair pins, is there a special type of hot glue that is safe to use around skin or hair? Thanks!
Meegan says
Thanks for visiting Terr! I think it would be fine to use any type of hot glue for hair accessories. You might want to look at other glues as well :)
Good luck and have fun.
Terr says
Thanks! I’ll ask around about glue that is safe to use for hair pins and such.

I know this is an old post but I love vintage broaches. I have so many and it’s one of the things I collect. Lovely
Colleen says
What a great idea! Do the backs of the brooches need to be removed? How do you go about doing that?
