Updating Thrifted Mirrors with Rub-n-Buff

With a LARGE wall to fill, and a collection of mirrors, it was fun to be creative designing a gallery wall.

Now, it’s nice to use creative juices for a fresh new look by Updating Thrifted Mirrors with Rub’nBuff.

If you are anything like me, it’s nice to look at a space in a whole new way. From changing furniture around to using thrifted finds to using paint and/or Rub’n Buff.

Today, I will share the whole process from beginning to end.

Let’s start from the VERY beginning…

We moved into this apartment cottage with SO much more space than in our last place. So where do you start with such a LARGE wall? It took me months and months to decide.

After years of thrifting, I had a relatively small collection of large mirrors. Gradually they were hung in a semi-symmetric fashion.

To create a cohesive look, and using homemade “chalk paint” in a dark blue color. It was perfect for a cottage style.

This past Winter, the creative juices struck again. Why not try something new? Why not paint the mirrors gold?

To start off, I cleaned the mirror frame with a dust cloth and some glass cleaner.

For a base coat, I used craft paint with a soft brush. It took a couple of coats to completely cover the dark blue.

I actually debated whether or not to just keep the frames white.

Now the REAL creativity begins. With a soft cloth and sponge brush that came with the Rub ‘n Buff kit.

I wanted the white to be ALMOST completely covered. You can create the best look for YOU.

It did take me weeks to finish. Not because it was difficult, but because life happens. Travelling, church, family activities, pool side reading, etc…

I REALLY like this look. It gives a full, new and unique look. Not to mention it cost LESS than 20 bucks! Yep, that’s always my favorite part about doing thrifted projects.

FUN FACT: The table and chair in these photos are also thrifted. As are most of the accessories. You seriously can’t count out on visiting thrift stores. You never know what you will find.
