The Best of What Meegan Makes 2012-Bridal Bouquet is featured today!!  I am excited to share this post with you.  Not only because of the positive response I got, but because it has been a few years since I have done flowers-and I was so pleased with how they turned out.  Enjoy!!

I told you about some Bridal flowers that I am doing lately.  I did these last week:

These colors came out looking so well together.  This is a few bridesmaid’s bouquets.  Gotta love me some blue hydrangeas!!

Today another bride is taking her Bridal Portraits and wanted her bouquet for the sitting.  She likes roses, succulents, and billy balls.  Her wedding colors are champagne, taupe, peachy pink, creamy whites, gray and white.

This is almost done-I added another single succulent towards the bottom.

Here are both the Groom’s boutonniere and the Bridal bouquet.  I would love to show you a full view, but that is for the bride to do.

The “bout” is 2 yellow billy balls and 2 dusty miller leaves.  I wrapped the stems with twine.  The dusty miller leaves are the same shade as the succulents, so it works well.  They are also a heavier leaf, like the succulents.  I used the leaves for balance.

The Bridal bouquet.  There are so many textures.  I really like it.  She needed a gray succulent, rather than green.  I actually bought these at our local nursery in tiny pots.  They work perfectly!!

I added vintage lace around the burlap for even more texture and style.  The lace is some of my Grandma’s lace.  I know she would love seeing it wrapped around a bridal bouquet.

The Best of 2012-My Botanical Pillow

December 27, 2012 By Meegan 2 Comments

It’s time for another “The Best of What Meegan Makes-2012″….

Best of 2012-My Botanical Pillow

Don’t you just love pillows???  I REALLY like them!!  I pretty much look at them in any store I go into-TJ Maxx, Pier 1 Imports, Home Goods, Target, and even Wal-Mart.  You just never know what you are going to find!

While I have been changing the colors throughout our home, I made a couple of “Botanical” print pillows.  They looked great, but I needed something different to go along with them.  Something I created.

So, I began searching and looking.  Then the creative juices starting flowing!!  I knew that if I could make this:

Then I could make another style, too!

I found just the right green to go with my other pillows-Yep, you got it-It was on SALE!!  I got to work and made a pillow from an old pillow that was navy blue (That was not going to work anymore) and from this fabric.

I started cutting out the shapes and sizes I wanted.  Using Fabric Glue, I began to create my own design.  I really like using felt.  There isn’t a bias, or fraying, and you can cut anywhere or way you need to. It also adds texture to your projects.

Doesn’t she look just great with my other pillows????  I am REALLY pleased with how it came out!!  I have used these pillows in my living room, TV room and bedroom.  Yeah, I guess you could say I pretty much love them!!

I would love to see some of your ideas, too!  Let me know what you come up with.

Thanks for following me and joining in on my blog!  I am having such a great time, and I hope you are, too!!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!  Ours was full of family, friends, and food!!  I am now excited to share “The Best of What Meegan Makes-2012”!!

Vintage Cupboard Makeover:

I have showed you my antique cupboard before:

I LOVE this cupboard.  As a brief history, I received her from a friend who was going to take her to the dump!

I made her over a few months back.  She was working really well in this room, until I painted the room “Hint of Olive”.  Then the blue was clashing-REALLY bad!!

So I got to work again.  This time I painted the core of the cupboard antique white.  And the silver drawers and cupboard doors with “Hint of Olive” by Ace Hardware.  Oh wow!!  SO MUCH BETTER!!!

I sanded her up a little and stenciled a few designs on her for some pizazz!!

It is interesting working with such an old piece of furniture.  You never how the surface will turn out while sanding it.  That is apparent in this picture.  I used the same grit sandpaper on both panels.  Interesting…

Here she is again!!  The core is painted with antique white, the blue drawers are Olympic Satin “Turquoise Mist”, and the other drawers are “Hint of Olive” by Ace Hardware.  Lovely-just lovely!!  Now the room feels like it is coming together!!  You might also like to see my Family Gallery Wall hanging just above this cupboard.  Like I said, it feels like it is all coming together!  Whew!
Thanks for joining me for “The Best of What Meegan Makes-2012”!!  Now I am off to play with the grand kiddos!!  Come back again tomorrow for more of YOUR favorite posts!!
