The Monday Blues For Paint Palette

February 24, 2014 By Meegan 8 Comments

I’ve got the Monday Blues for Paint Palette colors.  And I am happy to share them with you today.  It’s always enjoyable to browse through paint stores and aisles at the various colors of paint.  It’s probably one of my fave things to do, besides holding the grandbabies or to hold Hubby’s hand.

I think there are probably guidelines and interior design rules of how many colors you should/could have in your home.  And, if you know me at all, you KNOW I don’t like perfect things.  I like rustic, worn, and chippy, so I guess I don’t follow the interior design rules.  And I am JUST fine with that.

Why?  Well, because I am comfortable in my home, and if more than 3 colors make me smile, then that’s what I am going to use.  To me it’s all about being comfortable in your home.  Don’t you think so, too?

I share my makeovers and ideas with you all the time.  I thought it would be fun to show you the color palette for our home along with various pieces of furniture and accessories.

color-palette-collage labeled

1. Ocean Mist is from Clark and Kensington is the color of one wall in our living room.

2. Summer Sonnet  from Ace Hardware is painted on our bedroom wall and on my thrifted coffee table.

3. Antique Coral is one of the colors on our dining room set and my “bathroom” door.

4. Hint of Olive is from Clark and Kensington at Ace Hardware is on a wall in our TV Room/Office.

5. Snow Cap White is used it to is painted in every room in our home.

6. Shark Loop from Valspar in used on the dining room set and our thrifted buffet.

7. Teal Lake from BHG has been used a few times on makeovers such as my Floating Frame Gallery and my Beach Bench.

8. Another color I use quite often is: Turquoise Mist by Olympic Paint  I have painted several pieces of furniture and accessories using this color.

Often times I mix any one of these colors with white to bring a whole new level of color into our home.  It adds dimension and depth that way.

Turquoise Mist has a special place in my heart.  It is the first can of paint I bought to start transforming our home into a lighter, brighter place to live.  We when moved in our condo, here, everything we owned was dark green, bright red, gold, and even touches of purple.   It was awesome at the time we purchased it, but it was time for me to move on.

These are the colors that make me smile.  They calm my spirit.  They work perfectly in our home.

What colors are your favorite?  What color calms YOUR soul??

Thanks for joining me today while I’ve got the Monday Blues for paint palette.

Make it a blue Monday!

I’ve Got The Monday Blues

March 11, 2013 By Meegan 4 Comments

Good Blue Monday to you!!  How was your weekend??  What keeps you busy??  This past week I had the flu…Boo!!  It really knocked me for a loop.  But I am feeling much better. And blue always makes me feel better, that’s why I’ve got the Monday Blues.

Today I am taking a little different approach to my Monday Blues.  I thought it would be fun to show you a couple of the blues in our “new” office.  The reveal for the office will be soon, but until then here are just a few blues that make me smile.

We say this is our office, but it is really a bedroom with one whole wall being a closet.  It used to be our TV Room, but after moving a few things around we have transitioned this room into an office.  The room is so much more convenient and useful like this. As you walk in the office from the living room, there is a tiny wall on the left.  And my blue framed silhouettes of our kids fit this space just right.

I've Got The Monday BluesThis is the perfect home for these lovely blue frames.  We had them done when all of our kids were small.  The frames were black but I couldn’t resist and painted them with Turquoise Mist by Olympic.  The silhouettes blend with our gallery wall now.

I've Got The Monday BluesThis candle stand also adorns the tiny wall.  When I bought her she was gold.  But, that didn’t last long.

I've Got The Monday BluesI painted these jars and vase for a wedding last Summer.  Tying them with twine adds texture and an aged look.  They make me smile with Tiffany blue.

They are sitting on top of  our bookshelf:

I've Got The Monday BluesI bought this lovely at Target.  The white back was too stark, so I added pieces of scrapbook paper to add depth and color.  She looks much better, don’t you think??

I've Got The Monday Blues You will also find another blue in our office.  This thrifted shelf I found for $3.  She is hanging just above our computer desk. (where I am sitting right now)  It is refreshing to look up and see this delightful shelf.

Now you can see why I’ve got the Monday Blues.  Gotta love me the Monday Blues.

I’ve got the blues every Monday, so come back again next week:

I Need Your Ideas

January 19, 2013 By Meegan 4 Comments

I need your ideas!!

I love decorating for Christmas.  Yet, I also love taking it all down.  The New Year comes and then I want to make changes all around.  This is what is rolling around my head right now:

I really like how our living room came out, after 2 years of working on it.

I Need Your Ideas

After putting all the Christmas decor away, I staring thinking it might be fun to move this sofa into the TV Room.

I Need Your Ideas

Maybe even moving the bookcase into the TV Room.  Love my bookcase!  Or moving “the Girl” picture to the TV room and placing my vintage craft cupboard there with the family gallery wall above…

I Need Your Ideas

And, I could move this into the TV Room-leaving more space in the living room.  Hmmm…

I Need Your Ideas

I could move this sofa to the living room.  Leaving the mirror and side table here.

I Need Your Ideas

I could hang “the Girl” picture where the family gallery wall is…  And take the cupboard in the living room too…

I Need Your Ideas

And this wall the same.  Love these frames!!

I Need Your Ideas

I am also thinking about moving this rug to the living room.  Good idea??

So basically-I want to move the 2 sofas and the rugs, craft cupboard and pictures, so far.  You like how I said, “So far”??  Once the creative juices start-it is hard to stop.

So, tell me, what are your ideas for these 2 rooms?  Leave them how they are, or go with my thought process??  I would love to hear your creativity and ideas!!  Please leave comments, email, FB me to let me know.  I am excited to hear from you!!

Thanks for letting me share my ideas daily with you!  You are the best!!

A Can of Paint Makes All The Difference

January 17, 2013 By Meegan 13 Comments

I just love me a good can of paint, don’t you??  I think a can of paint makes all the difference.  What about you??  I want to show you how paint can make a difference in the look, feel, and balance of your home.  It doesn’t even take much time.  Just a little creativity.

Here are a few samples of what I mean:

Oh My Goodness!!  What a difference!

A Can of Paint Makes All The Difference

I love paint because of the fresh look, but also because of the minimal cost in the long run.  Not everyone can buy a new home, or afford to make over a room.  Start out by going to your local home supplier and purchase a quart of paint.  A quart goes a long way when you are painting furniture.

Have fun, be creative, and make your home a cozy place to be.  Try new colors.  Colors you have been longing to try, but don’t just have the courage to use.  Give it a try-just one small tester can even will work.  If you don’t like it-paint over it!!  That’s part of the fun and creativity as well.

Thanks for coming by today.  I love your visits and comments.  They make me smile everyday.

Make it a terrific Thursday!!
