Choosing Colors for a Master Bedroom

January 21, 2014 By Meegan 3 Comments

Hello!!  And Happy Tuesday!!  I have been choosing colors for a Master Bedroom and it isn’t as easy as it looks.  Especially since I am trying to bring a welcoming feeling into our home.  As you know, I like whites, blues, and greens with gray and pinkish/coral mixed in a few places.

Choosing Colors for a Master Bedroom

I started with the new pillows, I made for the bed.

Going off of the colors of the pillows, I looked for paint, because very soon, I want a white duvet to cover our bed.

Then I was time to choose colors.  EEK!

I decided on Summer Sonnet from Ace Hardware Clark and Kensington Brand.  I love the feeling when I look at this.  It looks like a color so a shallow part of the ocean.  (Well, that is where my mind takes ME, anyway)

And then it was time to paint.  Hubby and I spent a few hours on his day off to tape and paint the room.

Once the paint was dry, I was able to start with the stenciling.

Now, that is a whole other subject.  I have taken over a year to pick what I want.  Now that I found it, I needed to choose a contrast and yet, blending color.  Hmmm…

I decided on Ancient Gray also from Ace hardware and Clark and Kensington brand.  I also used it on my Thrifted Buffet.

It leaves a soft and not too bright detail.  I wanted it to be a hint of stencil, not a bold, powerful statement.

I strategically placed the stencil in a “semi” pattern.  Being careful not to get them too far apart or too close together.

So far, so good.

As you can see my bedroom is almost back together.  The walls are painted, the stencils are done and the furniture is back in place.

Choosing Colors for a Master Bedroom

For me, choosing colors for a master bedroom was pretty easy, because I knew I wanted it to be a relaxing and welcoming space.  Not bight and full of various colors.

BUT, there isn’t a headboard.  Hmmm…I think that’s another upcoming idea and project!!  Always fun times around , here, right??

Until then, I am in search for the finishing look for my table:
