Looking Back at September

October 29, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Looking Back at September is going to be a delight and a lot of fun for me today.  I had a wonderfully busy month not only on my blog, but with family and friends, too.  I am blessed to be able to share some of that with you here today.

While I was in Cali, I found a vintage window frame to add to my mantel/headboard.

I made a Fall Book Page wreath for our front door.

Using some wood scraps from another project, I made my own version of pumpkins.  Yes, there HAS to be a blue one. (HUGE smile!)

I was on a blog tour with 29 other bloggers.  I was able to show my Blue and White Fall decor ideas.

I hosted the FIRST ever #BestofDIY Link party with 27 bloggers total.  I am still blown away by the response and the INCREDIBLE projects that were linked up.

I have been looking for a new lamp, and didn’t like the price, so I made my own DIY Lamps Plus Inspired Gold Lamp with DIY Burlap Lampshade.

One of my favorite posts was:

Thrifted Benefit for Sheltered Animals

October 14, 2014 By Meegan 8 Comments

Good Morning and welcome to the Thrifted Benefit for Sheltered Animals. Thrift Benefit is a DIY blogger event to bring awareness to thrift shops that sponsor animal rescues and the rescues that care for the animals that share our journey.  Take some time to Google a thrift shop in your area that does support animal shelters. Visit them and spread the word to help our cause.

What better way to help animals in need, right?  You have want you have been searching for and the animals receive help, too.

Last year when I was a part of this group, I told you about our dear sweet Airedale, Lacy.  She was by far the sweetest dog we ever had.  Until we had Cinnamon.  Cinnamon was also an Airedale.

I was not on the look out for a dog, but when I met Cinnamon, my eyes watered and I knew I loved her.  Airedales have a kind disposition and are very loyal to their family. She was a sweetie.  After I had met Cinnamon, her owners knew how much I loved her.  She wasn’t getting the attention she needed from them.  They knew our family would be delighted to own her.

They showed up at our door with Cinnamon, as a gift for our family.  Again, tears came to my eyes.  We were able to spend 2 1/2 years with her.  Cinnamon passed away from cancer.  It broke our hearts. But she is still in our hearts 10 years later.

Even though I don’t have an animal shelter sponsored Thrift Store in my area, I am still excited to be a part of this group and animal shelter awareness.

Please take some time and watch the video below to meet some of the bloggers, their pets and the coordinator of our group, Jeanette Chaney.

I love thrifting, as you know.  I found a door at my local thrift store for $20.

I was not REAL sure where I wanted to put it in our home.  BUT, I did know I WOULD find just the right spot for it.

After having it sit in our living room for days I finally gave it some color.  This loveliness of a door is painted Antique Coral by Valaspar.

While visiting my local thrift store a few weeks ago, I found 3 rectangle baskets for a dollar a piece.  Hmmm…NOW I know what I want to do for my thrifted door!

After laying them on my door, Hubby helped me by screwing each basket in place.  It only took a few minutes before the door was looking how I pictured in my mind.

Now it was time to fill the baskets with bathroom necessities.

AND, magazines for Hubby’s reading time (BIG smile)

The thrifted door has now found a home in our master bathroom.

Did you happen to notice that I added some aged numbers to my new bathroom door?  Any guesses as to what the address means?

It’s been a real treat to be apart of the Thrifted Benefit for Sheltered Animals.  I am honored to help my community in any way I can.

Please visit ALL the other Thrifted Benefit for Sheltered Animals posts from 21 of my friends.

Enjoy your day!

OH! And the address???  It is the exact time Hubby and I were married. (How fun, huh?  I love it!)

Loves!
