60 Minute Cinnamon Rolls

December 22, 2012 By Meegan 3 Comments

Are you always feeling rushed Christmas morning to make breakfast? These 60 Minute Cinnamon Rolls are the answer. They can be ready by the time the presents are unwrapped!

I start out by using my 60 Minute Yeast Roll recipe.  Super easy, even if you are not a bread maker-you will be able to make these.  I promise!

*This post was updated in October 2026.

After the dough rises the first time, I roll it out in a semi rectangle. I am just not that good at making a true rectangle, like I should. “Butter” the dough with 3 Tablespoons real butter.

*NOW time for the “secret” ingredient and story time.

Years ago, when I had our fourth baby. For a sweet treat an older friend of mine made us a batch of her homemade cinnamon rolls. The flavor was just SO good. I asked her what her sugar mix included. The extra ingredient was Cardamom. Ever since, it’s been part of my own homemade cinnamon roll recipe as well. In my opinion, I think you will really like this added ingredient, too.

Cardamom is made from several plants in the genera Elettaria and Amomum, in the family Zingiberaceae. As you can tell by these descriptions, Cardamom is not common and can even be considered exotic.

NOW back to the recipe…

Sprinkle 3/4 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon cardamom over the butter.

You may also want to add chopped nuts, dates, or raisins. My husband does NOT like raisins, so that’s that. Haha!

Roll the dough carefully, with a serrated bread knife slice into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place on a greased baking sheet or glass baking dish.

Cover with a cotton kitchen towel and let rise for 15 minutes.

After they have doubled in size, bake for 12-15 minutes. Let cool for 1 minute, then frost with a mixture of 2 Tablespoons melted butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, and 1 tablespoon milk or cream.

Your family will be very impressed! Freshly baked cinnamon rolls in sixty minutes for Christmas breakfast with sliced oranges and a glass of eggnog? I can’t think of anything more festive!

Bake these 60 Minute Cinnamon Rolls with Cardamom for breakfast, brunch or a delicious dessert. Quick and easy! Definitely a favorite.

Thanks for stopping by. I will see you again REAL soon.

Groom’s Wedding Dinner Decorations And Ideas

November 8, 2012 By Meegan 16 Comments

I am finally getting a little rest after the wedding this past weekend when our son married the love of his life.  It was a beautiful and happy occasion.

As the groom’s parents it was up to us to provide and host the Groom’s Dinner.  These are just a few pictures from the dinner.

*I do need to preface this post with the fact that I did NOT have a good camera at the time of this dinner. As you can already tell. It is embarrassing to say the least. But, hopefully you can get your creative juices flowing for YOUR own ideas.*
