Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

April 3, 2014 By Meegan 7 Comments

Hello and Happy Thursday!

While visiting our daughter a few weeks ago in Oregon, she made me the most delish Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars. They literally are addicting.  They are filled with delectable chocolate and the salty peanut taste that pair perfectly together.  Is your mouth watering yet?

She made 2 batches to share with friends while we watched a hometown St. Patty’s Day parade.  Every single crumb was eaten up.  They are THAT good.  Nummers!   I will happily admit I had a few myself before everyone arrived!

If you like chocolate and peanut butter, I am sure you will like this recipe as much as I do.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

Blend until smooth:

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1/3 cup peanut butter

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 cup quick cooking oats

Press evenly in a 9×13 pan.

Bake at 350 degrees (f) for 15-25 minutes, depending on your oven.

As soon as you pull the “cookie” it out of the oven, pour a 12 oz bag of chocolate chips over the cookie  (Semi-sweet or milk chocolate)  Spread out evenly and let them melt.

Meanwhile mix with a mixer:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup peanut butter

2-4 Tbls milk

Spread frosting over melted chocolate chips.

Cut into bars and eat them all up!

See the layers of yummy goodness???  The peanut butter cookie at the bottom, then the layer of chocolate chips, and finally the peanut butter frosting…Pure heaven right there.

And who could ever resist chocolate and peanut butter together?  Um, not me!

I hope you try the recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars and let me know what you think.  I don’t think you will be disappointed at all!

I will see you over at the Easter Crafts and Decor Showcase where 20 talented bloggers are each sharing their BEST Easter ideas.  It’s been a week full of  creativity and Easter fun.
