Easy To Hang Decorative Plates

May 10, 2013 By Meegan 20 Comments

Hello Hello!!  I have been missing a lot lately.  This flu bug will not leave me alone.  At all.  We also had 2 of the grand kiddos here for a visit, so I have been recuperating and playing “go fish”.  We had fun, but now I am excited to be posting for you again.

Now, on to the most simple idea ever…Easy to hang decorative plates.  I mean, easy.

Don’t you just love the look of plates hanging on a wall?   I really do and finally found these 3 plates while thrifting a few weeks ago.  At 75 cents each, I couldn’t pass them up.  I mean, blue plates-I needed them now!!

Easy To Hang Decorative Plates

I could picture them hanging above our pantry door.  It is a small space, but needed a little pizzazz.  These plates were the answer.  I like how they don’t match perfectly.  Two are from the same pattern, but still a little different.

Now for the super easy way to hang my blue plates…

I don’t really like the look of plate holders.  I know-maybe I am ocd, but the wires around the sides take away the plate’s beauty to me.  So, I decided to use:

Yep, you guessed it-Hot Glue.  Lots of it.  I tried using other glues like surebonder, but hot glue worked the best for me.

For my “hanger” I used a large paper clip.  It is strong and the right size for any size nail needed.

Don’t my blue plates look lovely about my pantry??  They fill the space just how I imagined.

Didn’t I tell you I had an easy way to hang decorative plates?

Brilliant trick. I never would have thought of that. I can already think of several things I need to hang around the house that it could work for.

Awsome! I’m going to have to try that. I’ve always used plate hangers but I do like the way plates look without them (yours look cute above your pantry).

I’d love it if you would share this great tip at our Creative HomeAcre Blog Hop https://acultivatednest.com/2013/05/the-creative-homeacre-blog-hop-2/

It goes live every Sunday AM and closes on Thursday.

This is simply ingenious! My sister-in-love and I are redecorating her home and wanted to hang plates across the entry way from dining room into the kitchen. This trick will save us money and frustration! Thank you for sharing.

Great idea. I’m wondering how they have (literally) held up? I want to hang some plates, but I might be super devastated if they come crashing to the floor. However, they’ve been sitting in a cabinet for almost a year now, so even if they did fall it’d be worth it since I could enjoy them at least for a little while.

Are the plates still in place? August 2013?

    Thanks!!

Yes, Julie. They are still hanging up :) We live in very hot weather and the have been hanging up since before I wrote the post. Maybe you should try a plate you don’t care about first. Let me know how it works for you. Good luck

It absolutely has. I have had my plates hanging up for over 2 years now, and not one of them has fallen. It works incredibly well. Good luck and have fun!
